Hey all!

The Fall ASUO Street Faire will be happening on October 7,8, and 9th
this year. I've an application in hand and would love to know who else
wants to take part in n ETSY Street Team booth.
We could do either a 10 x 10 booth space for $160 for the three days,
or a 10 x 20 for $285 for the 3 days. I can risk the $5 fee to try and
reserve the spot, but I would need to have enough interest and the
shares of monies to pay for it by the 18th of Sept.

So I need to know who is interested, and if we have 8 or so people who
can pull together the $32.63 to pay for the larger booth or not. The
more people who can do it, the cheaper it is although the less space
we get. We'll need a few people who can be there at the various times,
so also write a note to that effect.
Also if you have a booth(s) we can use (I only have an 8 x 8 booth),
or other suggestions.

I'd like to get this over there by Monday, so please let me know!

Thanks all!

I wouldn't be able to do it either.
Best of luck to everyone else.

Hi,

I too work but am open to taking time off to do this but wanted to get people's opinions on if they think this is worth taking time off work. Is there a large # of people who frequent it?  How are the sales?
Thoughts?

I've had both good and bad experiences there.  My opinion is that it is just as much of a gamble as any show/sale.

It is just as much as a gamble as any other venue. Sometimes the
students are very receptive to things and other times they barely
look. It's like most any other venue. That's why I like to share a
booth with other crafters. There are imports at this show, as well as
some shops that set up so competition is heavy. If you have something
really unusual or unique it helps.

Personally, I would not take time off of a certain job for the gamble
of selling.

But if you aren't used to setting up a booth anywhere it is a chance
to try it and I think we all learn a little from everyone else there
each year.

It's all about what you're selling and it's potential appeal to the
college demographic. Personally, I always do really well there, but my
stuff is specifically geared towards that age group. Jewelry generally
does better in the spring than the fall, because they're all buying
mother's day gifts. But so much of it is dependent on the weather and
the whims of the universe.

It's definitely worth a try if you can go in on a booth.

Alley.

Don't be scared!!  We get all overly caffeinated and just chat.  It's pretty fun!  Bring way too much stock.  That way you'll definitely have enough and can store the excess in a tub under the table.

We do have alot of fun.

I should also ask who has what that we can use in the booth, and for
booth(s) itself.

I have some tables I can share, and a few clothes to put over them if
needed. I have one 8 x 8 booth structure. I am pretty limited in
displays so I will reserve those for myself. I have the ETSY Street
Team Banners.
If you have never vended, now is a good time to think about how you
would like to present your stuff and planning out where to buy, build,
convert or borrow what you'll need.. .
We will have to have a meeting, but lets see that we actually get in
before we plan that.

OK, I brought the application in today. I only went for a single booth
as I've only heard from about 6 people who wanted to do it. At 6
people, the $160 would break down to about $26.67 for everyone, which
is less than $10 a day for the three days, a decent price. Less if we
add anyone else.

I'll let you know when I hear back from this whether we got a spot or
not, and then we can work out the particulars.

OK, so I heard today that we will have a booth!
I won't have the paperwork until Saturday or so, so I can't give all
the details right now. But we should get together to plan what we are
doing and what we have and so forth. It will be nice to meet some of
you and to see others I don't see that often. Also, I will need to
collect monies from people so I can pay for the booth soon, I'll know
the date it is due when I get the paperwork. How about we plan to meet
on Thursday at the World Cafe?

Let me know what works for you!

I got an email from Amelie who is running the craft fair saying that
our booth number has been changed to 9-10. On the map online this puts
us up closer to the EMU near Collier House instead of down by the
library quad. So look for our booth in a different spot than we had
been discussing!

Did we discuss at the meeting about who might bring a clipboard? We
need a couple so we can keep track of who sells what and makes how
much money so we can divy up the earnings afterwards.

So if you have a clip board, bring it please. And anything else you
may have offered to bring for the group. =D

See ya at 6:15 Tuesday evening for set up!
