Sorry, but we don't yet have API access to wedding registries. We'd definitely like to make it available in the future though for the obvious benefits.

It would depend on what you consider to be the near future. Weddings have pretty hard deadlines and are stressful enough though. If you have a work around, it might be better to not build in a dependency on when we are able to launch API support for wedding registries.
