University of Wales, Lampeter - Department of Theology and Religious Studies

 

Salary starting at £30,747 per annum

Job Ref: TRS/03 - Closing date: Friday 7th May 2010

 

Applications are invited for the posts of Lecturer in Islamic Studies and Arabic in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies.  One post is permanent and the second is fixed term for two years.

The post holder will:

·         Teach on the BA Honours programme in Islamic Studies and in particular design and teach the Arabic programme;

·         Teach courses using Arabic texts as well as courses using texts in translation;

·         Contribute to teaching of the taught MA in Islamic studies;

·         Attract and supervise research students in Islamic studies;

 

You will have the ability to engage in teaching in core areas of Islamic studies (such as the Qur'an, hadith, Shari'a, fiqh, or Islamic ethics) and will have a high fluency in Arabic. 

You will be able to demonstrate a strong teaching and research background and will make a significant contribution to the academic profile of Islamic Studies and the wider Department.
