I already wrote chapter three of the novel, "Ifigenia on Kentaurus," and the group already read and edited it.  But I had to change part of it, and I seek guidance in this matter.

The paragraph in question:

She also met the rest of the residents of the McLaurin Estate.  The most unique of which were the four humanaform robots, who were the ambulatory extensions of the house AI, and who where the grounds keepers.

Can "mars'povaj" = "ambulatory"?

Is the phrase "artificial intelligence" sufficiently international?

I await your kind responses

(sp.) inteligenco
ankaux konsiderinda laux NPIV estas 'artefarita intelekto'

Sxajne 'marsxi' temas pri 'march' aux 'plod (toward a goal)' laux NPIV, sed placxas al Benson kiel 'ambulate'.
Ankaux eblas 'pasxpova' kaj 'memiriga' (self-propelled or something like).  Placxas al mi 'memiriga' sed tiu eble ne kongruas kun la preferoj de la verkisto.

Bob,

Dankon!

Vi skribis:  Sxajne 'marsxi' temas pri 'march' aux 'plod (toward a goal)' laux NPIV

Tion mi ankau' kredis pasinte, sed s'ajnis al mi ke la komuna uzado ne akordas tiun defino.

Tamen, komuna uzado ofte malg'ustas!

Thank you!

You wrote, "It seems that "marsxi" means "march" or "plod (toward a goal)" according to the NPIV.

I also used to believe that, but seems to me that the common usage doesn't jive.

Of course, common usage is often wrong!

Salutojn!

I hope you all have had a great summer.

Classes will NOT start on September 25 because i will be in NYC.
Classes WILL begin the following Tuesday, October 2. Classes run
from 7:30 until 9:30 every Tuesday evening during the Academic year
at Stanford's International Center. Check
http://Esperanto.Org/stanford/ for more details.

Since i will be out of town as the Stanford students come back
this year, i will not be available to advertise the class! This is a
first. I wonder how many people will be returning from last year? I
am expecting that the class may turn into a "seminar" as most of the
class already knows the language. But, i hope to make some effort to
get some beginners again later this quarter, so stay tuned.

I hope to see many of you again this year.

Cxion bonan!

As a follow-up to a discussion about online dictionaries at the
October 16th class, there is one that is often overlooked:

http://www.stars21.com/index.html?
pname=latin1w&aname=english&fname=dict_en&word=

This dictionary tends to be more complete than the Lernu! one, in
that it will often be able to translate English into Esperanto when
Lernu! fails but Lernu! will give alternate meanings when Word Star
will try to assume what you mean and only give one definition. I
usually use these two dictionaries together.
