MODERN MASTERS VOLUME TEN: KEVIN MAGUIRE
by George Khoury and Eric Nolen-Weathington
In 1987, a year after Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns turned comics
grim and gritty, artist Kevin Maguire proved that comics could still be
fun, with the release of the ?all-new? Justice League. His style was the
perfect match for the humorous dialogue and character-driven stories,
and the unlikely series quickly developed a large following. But the
glue that held the series together was Maguire?s ability to convey
emotion on the page. He has an uncanny knack for capturing just the
right facial expression and body language in his figures. The Justice
League, Captain America, the X-Men, the Defenders... they are all actors
on Maguire?s stage, and he directs them with the ability of a true
Modern Master. This new volume in the Modern Masters series, by George
Khoury and Eric Nolen-Weathington, features a career-spanning Kevin
Maguire interview and tons of artwork, including a large gallery section
featuring many rare and unpublished sketches and finished pieces. This
128-page volume presents the ultimate look at the work of a true Modern
Master: Kevin Maguire!
The 128 page (plus cover), squarebound , 8 1/2" x 11" trade paperback
with a full color cover and black-and-white interiors retails for $14.95
in the U.S. and ships 13 December 2006.

MODERN MASTERS VOLUME EIGHT: WALTER SIMONSON
by ERIC NOLEN-WEATHINGTON and ROGER ASH
http://twomorrows.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=387
128 page Trade Paperback - By Eric Nolen-Weathington and Roger Ash
Out of the back pages of Detective Comics came the surprise hit of 1973,
“Manhunter,” and its illustrator, Walter Simonson. The series garnered
awards and accolades, and the artist quickly became a star sensation. Ten
years later he cemented his name among the legends of the comic book
field with his epic saga, Thor. From Fantastic Four and X-Factor, to
Battlestar Galactica and Star Wars, to Conan and Elric, Simonson can
handle any genre with ease, and his stylized, dynamic artwork is an
influence on many of today’s top artists. This, along with a grand sense
of adventure and powerful storytelling, makes Walter Simonson the subject
of the next volume in the Modern Masters series! This trade paperback
looks at his life and work, and features an extensive, career-spanning
interview lavishly illustrated with rare and unpublished art from his
files! Plus, it features an enormous sketchbook section with some of the
most amazing illustrations Walter has ever produced. One look and you’ll
agree—Walter Simonson is a true Modern Master!

unas publicaciones altamente interesantes.
A veces
sacan algunos recopilatorios sobre autores y demas interesantes tambien.
Eso sí, algunas veces llegan a casos extremos... como hacer un retrato de
los autores clásicos del comic-book a través de entrevistas a sus
esposas.
