por ejemplo si me dicen "telescopio de 700mm" se refiere a la
distancia focal de la lente de entrada?

En un telescopio de aficionado debe ser así, ya que si se refiriesen a la
apertura (diámetro del objetivo) sería un mónstruo de 70 cm, (¡ni me imagino
el precio que podría alcanzar!)
