Weight, measure, volume and time: an enquiry into the relative truth.

what is weight, measure, volume and time.? how do we quantify [this world] in which we all live, accurately, precisely and without fail.? when giving you a [pound] of potatoes, we must either agree what a pound is or decide what a pound is. when giving you a [gallon] of water, we must either agree what a gallon is or decide what a gallon is. the same could be said of oxygen in a vassel. when giving you a peace of land, we must either agree what a [hectare] is or decide what a hectare is. and when giving you one (1) [hour] of time, we must either decide what an hour is or agree what an hour is.

over time and through the ages, Kings and Queens have arisen to give us these things and cause these things to be exchanged in an agreeable fashion. even presently, there are certain conventions in place that [the world] agrees upon when exchanging these commodities and principles of life. however the question arises what is the proper weight, the proper measure, the proper volume and the proper time.? are we just being fanciful or do these items correlate to specific quantifiable tangibles in the real world.? how do we know that when we purchase one [ounce] of gold, we are actually getting one ounce of gold and what is an ounce anyhow.?

let us start with what we know.
let us use the Oxford canadian dictionary of current english (copyright 2005a.d.)

ounce n. 1a. a unit of weight of one-sixteenth (1/16th) of a pound [avoir.du.pois] (approx. 28 grams). Abbreviation: oz. 1b. a unit of one-twelfth (1/12th) of a pound [troy] (approx. 31 grams). 2. = fluid ounce. 3. a small quantity

yes, an ounce. something fine. an ounce of this or an ounce of that. it's not much but it's something. yet we still don't know what precisely an ounce is.? how do I go about giving you an ounce of something.?

it would seem that we have two alternatives. two systems of weights that exist as agreed upon conventions of present day and a third that unites them. but what are these systems.? are they "on the money".? which one should we use and what do they mean.? let's have a closer look at what we know about each one of them:

avoir.du.pois n. 1. a system of weights based on a [pound] of 16 ounces or 7,000 grains.

ah.! this is interesting. here it says that this convention called the avoir.du.pois system of weights has something called 7000 [grain] per pound or sixteen (16) ounces.

let's have a look at the meaning&definition of [grain], a discrete quantifiable object in our world.

grain n. 1a. wheat or any other cereal plant used as food. 1b. their fruit. 2. a fruit or seed of a cereal. 3 a small hard particle of sand, salt, &c. 4. the smallest unit of weight in the troy and avoirdupois systems (approx. 0.0648 grams). 5. the smallest possible quantity. 6. the texture of skin, wood, stone, &c. 7. a pattern of lines of fibre in meat, wood, fabric or paper. ex. against the grain vix. contrary to one's natural inclination or feeling.. grained = adj.

so, here we have the heart of the systems of weights used in the real world today. the [grain] spans both systems that we use and have, which are called troy and avoir.du.pois. you may note that one pound troy is not one pound avoir.du.pois and so one ounce troy is not one ounce avoir.du.pois. they are separate unique systems but both may be measured by the [grain] and both may be measured by the [gram] as well. I may add in what I have come to know about the grain. originally the King advised us that one plump grain of wheat, on average across the board, is our base unit of measure for doling out and exchanging commodities by weight. yes, one plump grain of wheat, whatever that is.... let us continue our enquiry into weights and measure by finding out what else we know about these systems before making our own deductions and conclusions as to the relative truth of it all.

troy n. 1. a system of weights used for precious metals and gems, based on a pound of 12 ounces or 5,760 grain. (also called: troy weight)

interesting. so troy weight appears to be the system used for the expensive items in life, when we're really concerned about weight while avoirdupois appears to be the system used for day to day commodal items like wheat and rice and potatoes and what have you.

and,

gram n. 1. a metric unit of mass equal to one one thousandth (1/1000th) of a kilogram

what I will tell you here as The King is that the gram or kilogram is our decimal system while troy is our whole number based system. avoirdupois is also a whole number based system.

kilogram n. 1.the s.i. unit of mass equivalent to 1000 grams (approx. 2.205 lb.([avoirdupois])). Abbreviation: kg.

(we will come to the meaning of the abbreviation s.i. shortly)

weight n. physics 1 the force experienced by a body as a result of the earth's gravitational pull. 2 the heaviness of a body. 3 a unit or system of units used for expressing how much a body weighs. 4 a body of a known weight for use in weighing. 5 a heavy body used to hold something down &c. 6a a heavy mass or load. b an emotional burden. 7a influence, sway. b preponderance. 8 (in pl.) heavy blocks or discs of metal, barbells, &c., used in weightlifting. v. 1a supply with an additional weight. b hold down with a weight or weights. 2 devise or manipulate (a rule etc.) so that it favours someone or something. 3 impede or burden. f.o.s. worth one's (or its) weight in gold vix. extremely valuable or helpful. weighted = adj.

mass n (pl. masses) 1 a body of matter of indefinite shape. 2 a dense aggregation of objects. 3 a large number or amount. 4 an unbroken expanse. 5 (the mass) a. the majority. b (in pl.) the ordinary people. 6 physics. the quantity of matter a body contains. 7(as an adj.) relating to large numbers of people or things; large-scale.. v.(masses, massed, massing) (usu. as massed adj.) 1 assemble into a mass. 2 military. (referring to troops) concentrate or be concentrated. f.o.s..in the mass (en masse) vix. collectively.

m'h. well there you are then the spartans of english regale us yet again.
perhaps they should enquire with a real sparten sometime

now, let's look at what this s.i. thing is:
here it is: SI abbr. Systeme International, the international system of units of measure

I would take you down to the definition&meaning of the english word (unit) but I feel it would be somewhat trivial and banal. a unit is merely one wooden block of two wooden blocks if you have two or more and I've already had more than I can take with Oxfords definition&meaning of the english words weight and mass

so, this is interesting all this gram and kilogram stuff has a name in this real world. it is called systeme international. again, sounds french, not unlike avoir.du.pois. the abbreviation is s.i. and I will use the abbreviation a.d.p. for avoirdupois and I'll just keep [troy] as troy.

and so, this is about all we can ascertain concerning the english term weight from what we presently know about it. let's rub our two pennies together and use our faculties to consider this matter of weight further as to that which is true&correct, proper and agreed upon.

before we carry on, we could also consider the definition&meaning of the english word [pound].

pound(1) n. 1 a unit of weight equal to 16 oz. avoirdupois (453.6g). 2 also (pound sterling) the chief monetary unit of the UK and several other countries. 3 also (pound sign) the sign #, esp. on a telephone keypad or computer keyboard.
pound(2) v. 1a. beat with repeated heavy blows. b. grind to a powder or pulp. 2. deliver heavy blows or gunfire 3. informal. cover on foot, esp. in search of work, business, etc. 4. beat heavily or throb. f.o.s. pound into vix. instill forcefully. f.o.s. pound out vix. produce with or as if with heavy blows. f.o.s. pound sand vix. go and do something useless
pound(3) n. 1 an enclosure where stray or homeless animals are kept. 2 a place where impounded vehicles are kept.

allright, so we've got a few more numbers for our calculator out of all this mess however we're not out of the woods yet. in fact, this is just the tip of the iceberg. what we have here is a real difference called weight. we'll have a look at measure, volume and time alittle later as we go along.

note: f.o.s. is an acronym for figure of speech.

now. what is our enquiry here.? the world has been exchanging pounds of potatoes and ounces of gold for decades, millenia even. why are we making this enquiry and what precisely is the purpose of our enquiry.?

we're making this enquiry because we're not convinced that weights, measure, volume and time are necessarily squared away, completed items on this planet and my enquiry is basically this: is there a quantifiable standard precision to weights, measure, volume and time.? or are these items arbitrary and conventional only.

you see, a decimal system is an approximation. it cannot be precisely precise. only a fraction or whole number based system can be precise.
you can have one grain or two grain or three grain but you cannot have half a grain. how can i give you half one plump grain of wheat in the real world.? it is not a practicable or feasible quantity. we shall have to refrain ourselves to a whole number system of weight, measure, volume and time. can you see the truth of this.?

let's have a close look at the avoir.du.pois system of weight as it sits today, first.
it is somewhat convoluted and long winded but bear with me and I will show you my point here.

avoir.du.pois whole number based system of weights
one(1) pound a.d.p. is sixteen(16) ounces (or portions). the pound is the whole number.
we hefted a [pound] of flour or grain in our hands and someone said, this is about a pound (here).
then we divided it into sixteen(16) [ounce]s and called the system avoirdupois. it came out to 7000 grain present day
it remains in question how much one plump grain of wheat actually weighs. I mean I could give you ten(10) plump grain of wheat on any given day of any given week and each and every grain will not weigh precisely the same. and so [the world] has agreed on a farmers convention conversion between the whole number system of avoir.du.pois and our decimal system, systeme international, that one plump grain of wheat always weighs 0.0648 grams metric that is to say decimal precisely or approximately, which should mean, if we're not mistaken that a certain number of grain whole strikes a metric concordant chord.

if you go down into the heart of any modern day weigh scale, 9 times out of 10 it's avoirdupois and 9 times out of 10, the internal logic chip converts between decimal and whole number at 0.0648 grams per one single grain. how (they) arrived at this figure is a bit of a mystery. it seems to have occurred around 1956 or so right after the end of world war 2 when the allies had gained victory in europe over the nazi regime and has been in use ever since. however it is only a convention or agreed upon number. it is not a standard. a standard is not just a convention. it is not just an arbitrary number that we all say, oh well, that's just the convention. a standard also is a decision that correlates to the world properly in a true&correct fashion. that is to say a standard is independent of my thoughts or feelings. a standard is more like the number Pi which is the perfect correlation between the diameter and circumference of any circle and comes out precisely every time to 3.14ad infinitum unique yet constant.

pi n. 1. the sixteenth (16th) letter of the greek alphabet (unique world designatory symbol. (add in here)) 2. the symbol of the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter (approx. 3.14159) [Say PIE (pronunciation)]

do you, the reader, understand the difference between a [convention] and a [standard] now.?

allright, let's carry on with our look at the a.d.p. system of weight.

one(1) pound (abbrev. LB or lb or Lb) a.d.p. is sixteen (16) [ounce]s and there are 7000 grain in one pound a.d.p.
which comes out to 437.5 grain per 1 ounce a.d.p.
as you can see this is already decimated which is not shaping up good in my books for avoirdupois as it stands but let's carry on

how do we divide an ounce farther.? what is the unit below one ounce.? the answer is that there is none. it is 1/8 of an ounce, 1/4 of an ounce and fractions like this or we can use the decimal conversion notation system which is systeme international in grams

let's go down the scale and see what we've got:
1 ounce a.d.p. = 437.5 grain = 28.35 grams s.i. (using our farmers conversion at 0.0648grams per grain)
3/4 of an ounce a.d.p. = 328.125 grain = 21.2625 grams s.i.
1/2 ounce a.d.p. = 218.75 grain = 14.175 grams s.i.
1/4 ounce a.d.p. = 109.375 grain = 7.0875 grams s.i.

now, how else can we part the ounce.? we can go down in 5th's
1 ounce a.d.p = 437.5 grain = 28.35 grams s.i.
4/5 of ounce a.d.p. = 350 grain = 22.68 grams s.i.
3/5 of ounce a.d.p. = 262.5 grain = 17.01 grams s.i.
2/5 of an ounce a.d.p. = 175 grain = 11.34 grams s.i.
1/5 ounce a.d.p. = 87.5 grain = 5.67 grams s.i.

now, we are getting close to the truth here
what is this funky thing called the gram.? and where does it lie on our scale.?
and what is this magical thing called the grain.? and where does it lay on our scale.?

let's part the ounce in thirds now
1 ounce a.d.p = 437.5 grain = 28.35 grams s.i
2/3 ounce a.d.p. = 291.66ad infinitum = 18.9 grams s.i.
1/3 ounce a.d.p = 145.833ad infinitum = 9.45 grams s.i.

where are our whole numbers.? what is all this decimated nonsense.?
where is the part, the sum and the whole of this mess.?

let's continue down the scale to the grain on the 1/4 and see where we arrive:
1/8 ounce a.d.p. = 54.6875grain = 3.54375 grams s.i.
1/16 ounce a.d.p. = 27.34375 grain = 1.771875 grams s.i.

as you can see, i'm having trouble getting you the precise whole number of [grain] you are asking for but these are just the numbers the a.d.p. system comes out at at 7000 grain for 1lb avoirdupois on the 1956 farmers conversion convention at 0.0648grams per grain
let's try going up the scale and see where we (collide)

1 gram s.i. = 15.432098 grain
3/4 gram s.i. = 11.574073 grain
1/2 gram s.i. = 7.716049 grain
1/4 gram s.i. = 3.8580245 grain

1 gram s.i. = 15.432098 grain (you may note here that this leaves us with 15432.098 grain precisely in one kilogram (from a.d.p.))
4/5 gram s.i. = 12.345678 grain
3/5 gram s.i. = 9.2592585 grain
2/5 gram s.i. = 6.172839 grain
1/5 gram s.i. = 3.0864915 grain

now, I guess we could take our enquiry down to 1/10 or 1/8 and see just precisely what the grain or gram or this a.d.p. is

1/8 gram s.i. = 1.9290122 grain
or
1/10 gram s.i. = 1.5432457 grain

what is the point here.?

my point is, only The Lord Christ Jesus, knows.

1/16 gram s.i. = 0.9645061 grain (or one grain. you see my point.?)

1/15 gram s.i = 1.0288305 grain (or one grain, you see my point.?)

we must collide at one whole grain irregardless of the scale we descend upon or rise from.

so 1/15 gram s.i. = 1/16 gram s.i.
they are the same thing. one whole grain. no more, no less

this leads us to see that there are fifteen(15) grain in one gram precisely, not less, not more.
however, we are not ready to beef it up to The Kings standard conversion quite yet between the whole number and the decimal but you can already see it taking form and shape. I will not dilly dally with you over a decimated grain or part of one grain, my friend.

now as I say, the above numbers are just as the systems are today with the existing Farmer's conversion, but we are led to realize that the Farmers' conversion convention is "off the money"

now, in the next section, we'll take a look at the system used for precious metals and gems called troy weight. this sounds like it's more up my Ally.

addendum1: note: the agreed upon convention of the present day for ease of suffering or ease of mind for the old system a.d.p. under the Farmer's conversion convention of 1956. is 35.28 [ounces] precisely in one (1) [kilogram] or 1000 [grams] and 28.35grams precisely in one (1) [ounce] a.d.p. these come out to 1000.188grams for one kilogram which is 15435grains precisely
addendum2: you may note that coming up from the grain level there are 15432 grains precisely when you look at one gram
this is a 3 grain difference inherent in the a.d.p. weight system because it is a decimated mess
the conclusion is that this present weight system is not acceptable to The King.
I could not buy the queen a white gold ring with it.
addendum3: as per to the weight of one grain, the heft has a certain measure of spring compression on a standard spring set of certain calibration. eventually, we find the golden mean of the grain as a portion of the whole number or pound and in direct and fashionable correspondence to a decimal system

troy whole number based system of weight
one(1) [pound] troy is twelve(12) [ounce]s (or portions). again, the pound is the whole number.
we hefted a [pound] of flour or grain in our hands and a King said, this is about a pound here.
then we divided it into twelve(12) [ounce]s and called the system troy. it comes out to 5760 grain precisely present day.

from this data we can see that one(1) ounce troy comes out to precisely 480 grain.
as you can see already, our initial whole number and portions are remaining whole which bears analogous fruit in mine eye. now let's go down the scale from the ounce and see how our fractions come out:

thus,
1 ounce troy = 480 grain = 31.104 grams s.i. (according to our 1956 farmers' conversion convention at 0.0648 grams per grain)
3/4 ounce troy = 360 grain = 23.328 grams s.i.
1/2 ounce troy = 240 grain = 15.552 grams s.i.
1/4 ounce troy = 120 grain = 7.776 grams s.i.

1 ounce troy = 480 grain = 31.104 grams s.i.
4/5 ounce troy = 384 grain = 24.8832 grams s.i.
3/5 ounce troy = 288 grain = 18.6624 grams s.i.
2/5 ounce troy = 192 grain = 12.4416 grams s.i.
1/5 ounce troy = 96 grain = 6.2208 grams s.i.

let's also part the ounce in thirds:
1 ounce troy = 480 grain = 31.104 grams s.i.

now, as you can see, *we* are definately liking this system
why.? because when we go to the grain and part the ounce by quarters, fifths or thirds we find whole numbers on all three stations
brilliant, remarkable and preferred by my reckoning and approbation.

however, as you can see our gram or decimal scale is still not coming out "on the money" but again s.i. is only our decimal system, not the principle system of weights, measures and volumes, so let's have a closer look at the single grain from the standpoint of the troy weight system

1/8 ounce troy = 60 grain = 3.888 grams s.i.
1/16 ounce troy = 30 grain = 1.944 grams s.i.
1/32 ounce troy = 15 grain = 0.972 grams s.i. (now I am going to suggest here that this is where we cut the mustard and call it one gram, again, but we are not yet ready to make the leap to The Kings conversion standard for whole number to decimal and back again)

1/10 ounce troy = 48 grain = 3.1104 grams s.i.
1/15 ounce troy = 24 grain = 1.5552 grams s.i.

let's have a look going up the scale now from the bottom by the grain to gram conversion

1 gram s.i.= 15.432098 grain (you may note here that this leaves us with precisely 15432.098 grain in one kilogram (from troy))
3/4 gram s.i. = 11.574073 grain
1/2 gram s.i. = 7.7160486 grain
1/4 gram s.i. = 3.8580245 grain
1/8 gram s.i. = 1.9290122 grain

1 gram s.i. = 15.432098 grain
4/5 gram s.i. = 12.345678 grain
3/5 gram s.i. = 9.2592585 grain
2/5 gram s.i = 6.1728392 grain
1/5 gram s.i. = 3.0864196 grain

and again, going down as close to the single grain as possible we get:

1/16 gram s.i. = 0.9645061 grain
1/15 gram s.i. = 1.0288065 grain

now yet again, here we see that 1/16 gram s.i. = 1/15 gram s.i. or 1 whole grain

the other thing we may note is that when we look at the other end of the scale we are reduced to the farmers conversion at 0.0648 grams per grain and so troy and avoirdupois come out identical as far as the decimal is concerned

now let's coalesce our data on weight systems and see what the true Kings' conversion standard is for converting between whole number weight and decimal weight

addendum: just briefly in comparing the two whole number weight systems thus far, I note one thing. the [pound] in each system has a certain heft. I consider the troy [pound] with twelve(12) [ounce]s, preferred for two reasons. one, the system performs properly at the grain level and two, the heft of the troy pound is acceptable and proper for a lady as well as a man. by edict of The King

now, we have two systems: troy and avoirdupois as well as our farmer's decimal conversion convention at 0.0648grams per grain
either way, we find, one grain is one grain is one grain.
when I, The King, issue the edict that The Kings' decimal conversion standard is, in fact, 0.06666ad infinitum grams per grain
and the farmer's decimal conversion convention is at 0.0648 grams per grain, we're really not talking about a whole lot either way
but I require the decimal system to match my whole number system for one
and for two when we get down to the grain level of weight measurement and issuance,
I need to come back with whole numbers and that is what the proper grain to gram conversion standard yields

now this is, in fact, the truth of the decimal system from the grain to gram and back again
there are 15,000 grain precisely in 1 kilogram. no more, no less
and there are 15 grain precisely in 1 gram, not more, not less
this is the true decimal system that corresponds to both of our whole number weight systems

let us adjust the decimal conversion to The Kings' conversion standard at 0.06666ad infinitum grams per grain and let us call this the golden mean of the grain.

we will keep troy precisely as (she) is at the grain level
5760 grain per 1lb troy which is a pleasant one(1) [pound] weight for a lady or a man

then we will adjust the avoir.du.pois system to precisely 6993 grain per one(1) [pound] avoir.du.pois, down from 7000grain, in order to keep this weight system viable and working. this adjustment causes avoir.du.pois to correspond properly with 1 kilogram being 15,000 grain precisely and 1 gram being 15 grain precisely and the grain level with it's lowest whole number fraction being 3 grain. that is to say, it causes it to correspond with the grain as we ascend or descend the weight scale.

what happens when we adjust avoir.du.pois to 6993 grain per one pound a.d.p. with the new Kings' conversion standard.?

let us see

sixteen(16) ounces to one pound a.d.p. yet remains as that system
there are then precisely 466.2 grams in one new a.d.p. [pound]
we find that there are 2.145 lbs a.d.p. in one kilogram precisely or 1000grams or 15,000 grain

this yields:
1 ounce a.d.p. = 437.0625 grain = 29.1375 grams s.i.
3/4 ounce a.d.p. = 327.79687 grain = 21.853125 grams s.i.
1/2 ounce a.d.p. = 218.53125 grain = 14.56875 grams s.i.
1/4 ounce a.d.p. = 109.26562 grain = 7.284375 grams s.i.
1/8 ounce a.d.p. = 54.6328125 grain = 3.6421875 grams s.i.

now let's have a look at the gram level

1 gram s.i. = 15 grain precisely, (you see. here in lays the reason for the adjustment from 7000 grain to 6993 grain)
now, we can only go down from the gram scale by 5ths or 3rds. since we must stick to the whole grain as I will remind you again that we cannot have part of a grain. the reason we can't go down in 15th's is because 1 grain weighs 0.06666ad infinitum grams. you see, it is because it does not weigh enough to be a practical quantity of exchange. it has been ascertained by men in the know that 3grain or 0.2grams is the minimum [something] on the scale while anything less is [nothing]

now,

4/5 gram s.i. = 12 grain
3/5 gram s.i. = 9 grain
2/5 gram s.i. = 6 grain
1/5 gram s.i. = 3 grain

1 gram s.i. = 15 grain precisely
2/3 gram s.i. = 10 grain
1/3 gram s.i. = 5 grain

these are whole numbers still. can you see that the minimum possible weight on a scale is 0.2grams s.i.?

now, let us consider the troy system which remains at 5760 grain per 1lb troy weight with the new Kings' conversion standard for grain to gram:

1 ounce troy = 480 grain = 32 grams s.i. precisely
3/4 ounce troy = 360 grain = 24 grams s.i.
1/2 ounce troy = 240 grain = 16 grams s.i.
1/4 ounce troy = 120 grain = 8 grams s.i.

measure. what is measure.?
the English word measure I will define&confine for you. measure may be a measure of volume, it may be a measure of weight, it may be a measure of length. it may be any of these things. you may note that I, The King, am also the progenitor of the english lexicon also known as the dictionary. I will inform you here that each english word only has one root word meaning literally or figuratively and the language becomes semi-extensible from there by my Rulership. at any rate/
so what do we mean when we say measure in relation to a specific quantity of land area.?
we are referring to some arrangement of length, width (and.or height) otherwise known specifically as distance, as the crow flys
now, when considering land area, I use the terms distance and measure somewhat similarily. I also use the words length, width and height. you may also say measurement(s) for smaller finer distances. or simply, measure.
so, distance. what is distance.?
I have a ruler right here and it says this specific length is twelve(12) [inches] long or one [foot].
what is this (one foot) that we all use and subscribe to.?
one foot is the length of a King's foot. that's all it was.
it is semi-arbitrary except for the fact that it was a King's foot.
after that, (they) calculated [miles] and then (kilometers) and also [acres] and [hectares] of land area and distance

so we find that distance is in fact quite a simple thing

now let's have a look at what we know about units of land measure present day:

acre n. a measure of land, 4840 sq. yds., 0.405ha.

yard(1) n. 1 a unit of linear measure equal to 3 feet (0.9144 metre). 2 a square or cubic yard, esp. of sand, topsoil, etc. 3 a spar slung across a mast for a sail to hang from.
yard(2) n. 1 a piece of enclosed ground esp. attached to a building. 2 the area at the front or back of a house. 3 an enclosed area used for a particular business or purpose. 4 a railway yard

mile n. 1. a unit of linear measure equal to 1760 yards (approx. 1.609 kilometres) 2. (in pl.) informal. a great distance or amount [or 5280 feet (precisely)]

kilometer n. (also kilometre) a metric unit of measurement equal to 1000 meters. Abbreviation: km.

meter(1) n. (also metre) a metric unit and the base SI unit of linear measure, equal to about 39.4 inches. (100cm)

foot n. 5 (pl. feet or foot) a unit of length equal to twelve(12) inches (30.48cm)

I will leave you, the reader, to consider what the inch and the centimeter are for yourselves, at your leisure. (the same goes for the english words measure and distance)

hectare n. a metric unit of land measure equal to 100 ares (2.471 acres or 10,000 square meters). Abbreviation: ha.

are(?) n. a metric unit of measure equal to 100 square metres. Abbreviation: a. [say AIR or AR (?)]

so, what have we then.?

there are 640 acres in one square mile. what does this amount to.?
well, there are about 70 yards long X 70 yards wide in one acre.
one acre amounts to roughly one football field, just to get a rough picture of one in your minds' eye

now a mile has 1760yards long X 1760 yards wide = 3,097,600 yards squares

now an acre is 69.570108 yards long X 69.570108 yards wide = 4840 yards squares per acre precisely (according to the old foot)

and so we take 3,097,600 yards squares or 1 mile(s) square(s) divided by 4840 yards squares or 1 acre(s) square(s)
which equals 640 acres squares precisely in 1 mile(s) square(s)

so we know that there are about 640 football fields worth of land area in one mile(s) square(s). this is of course a basic two dimensional determination, not including mountains and rivers as these do not count as land area. they are just obstacles that we go around. furthermore, the three dimensional determination is not required by my reckoning as it comes out to a relatively negligable quantity of land area as per to arable land.

now let us consider one kilometer(s) square(s) in which we find 1000 meters long X 1000 meters wide or 1,000,000 meter(s) square(s) in 1 kilometer(s) square(s)

now, just a minute.

what are we getting at here.?
we're driving at parcelling land.
how much land does one family man require.?
I, The King, feel that one hectare per man with one wife and two little ones is plenty of land for one man

this means there are about 256 hectares or parcels of land in one (country) mile

then how many hectares or parcels of land are there in one kilometer(s) square(s).?

distance and measure have been confused by the kilometer. the kilometer is supposed to be s.i. which means decimal or units of ten(10).
in correspondence to a whole number system.

the yard and the meter are close to each other but no banana. (close enough for our general purposes for your ease of present day work continuation)

now i will say, the kilometre is not really s.i. it is only a unique "foot" basically

what we're going to do is stick with the old yard over the meter. were I, The King, to make a decimal system out of the existing whole number called the [foot] then I would divide the existing foot into ten(10) portions and call it s.i. which includes clearly the whole number in direct corresponding relative relation

on the other hand, we could take my foot, call it the [new Kings foot] which is about 11.25 inches in length, divide that into ten(10) portions so we have a direct ground to ground conversion between whole number and decimal. then we could consider "the queens' hand" for our smaller finer distance and measure, which is perhaps about 5.5inches in relative proportional length to The Kings foot again divided into ten(10) portions. yet, I am inclined to keep distance in 5th's, 3rd's and 15th's which will still leave us proper amounts of relative distal on both sides of the measuring Ruler. as well, this I apperceive to be the entire proper whole number system of [distance and measurement]. you could take half a 5th if you wanted to in order to find your relative decimal to the new whole number system of distance and measurement

anyhow./
we will remain with the whole number of the old foot for now and its' portions of twelve(12) with its' fractions of quarters and eighths.
let it be an edict from The King until I am able to procure a [new foot] with 5th's later.
that is all on measure for the now.

in the next section we will consider the measure of volume of liquid.

addendum1: there are only two ways to measure length, width, height or distance. one, by going out to a great distance using [The Kings foot] or two, by going in to a very fine distance on small or fragile items using [the queens hand].

addendum2: why is s.i. measured in units of 10.? why is it not measured in units of 5 or 6, say.?
well, 10 is even for one and it is the next great whole even number for apportionment for two. furthermore, it is 10. not 15, not 20, not 5, not an (odd) even number but 10.
why not 100.?
it is 100. each 1 of the 10 is 10 itself.

addendum3: discovery. addition. the mi.km unit (this is a codename for now). it lay betwixt the mile and the kilometer. it is a discovery based upon the agreement of the size, which comes from the reckoning of an old Sovereign, Lord and old hat (and or divining), of a [state] which amounts to a small self-carrying [country] which being a portion of a [continent]. it goes like this:
the precise number of kilometers in one [state] is 1250km which amounts to precisely 1000 [mi.km units] by a 0.8 conversion figure and equals 775miles precisely, also

the rough number of kilometers in one [state] including a Kingly blur zone for Government geographic survey mapping squadron (for rivers and rocks and bumping into other states and things) is 807.8 (808)mi which amounts to precisely 1050.4 ((rather)and 2 fifths) [mi.km units] by a 1.3 conversion figure and equals 1300km precisely,
(interestingly enough you can go (backwards) in your conversions and you will find from 775mi the conversion figure is 1.29 and from 1300km the conversion figure comes out at 0.81 but these figures are (perhaps) less precise)

also, my King's foot is about 11.33 old [inches] (give or take), so you, the reader, may use this number to do more figuring on this new unit and foot and portions and things on your own if you wish. you honor me.

let us consider the english word volume, its proper apportionment now, then

let us start with what we know:

volume is a form a measure used to determine the amount of space taking property that a certain liquid has. each liquid has a unique density. this means that one [unit] of salt water does not have the same weight as one unit of fresh water. this holds true for the rest of the spectrum of liquids that exist and that need to be quantified, as well. we also know that the proper way to apportion liquids is in fact by weight. the [fluid ounce] bears some original meaning and relation to the solid [ounce] and probably stems from avoirdupois more likely than troy weight. thus we find a couple of conventions already in place when it comes to measuring volume (of liquids)

let us stop here and look at a few relevant definitions from an English dictionary.
fluid ounce n. a unit of capacity equal to one-twentieth of an imperial pint (approx. 28.4mL), or (in the US) equal to one-sixteenth of a pint (approx. 29.6mL). Abbreviation: fl.oz.

litre n. a metric unit of capacity equal to 1000mL (about 1.76 imperial pints).

cup n 2b a measure of capacity equal to eight fluid ounces (237mL)

pint n 1. a measure of capacity for liquids etc. equal to one-eighth of a gallon. 2. (a unite of dry measure(?)) also equal to half a quart

quart n. 1 a measure of capacity for liquids etc., equal to a quarter of a gallon, or 1.135 litres (0.946 litres in the US). (a unite of dry measure(?)), about 1.1 litres.

gallon n 1a (also imperial gallon) a measure of capacity equal to eight pints and equivalent to 4.55 litres. b (also US gallon) (in the US) a measure of capacity equivalent to 3.79litres, used for liquids.

so what have we then.?
volume as a form of measure requires weight in order to function in a true and correct manner. if the weight is off then the volume is off. so at the moment volume is still something of a fishy thing waiting on weight to be corrected according to that which is proper&true.

nonetheless, we find there to be about 0.95 Litres in 4 cups which equals 237.5 milliLitre (1/1000th of a litre) in each cup. this is todays [convention]

interestingly enough, we find that volume, like mass, is subject to the (g.rain) as well.
the [grain] of liquid, say plain water, is one pipette drop, such as from one baby dropper. that is the smallest apportionment of liquid that we can verify.

and so in counting we find there to be twenty(20) pipette drops in one mL
this makes a precise number for the cup as well at 240mL or 4800 grain, up from 237.5mL, you may note
we find that there cannot be less pipette drops in 1mL and we find that there cannot be more pipette drops in 1mL

one (fluid) ounce of plain water = 600 pipette drops or 30mL precisely (up by a smidgin, you may note)

again, like weight, there is a minimum amount of liquid which constitutes a [something]
I cannot wet your whistle with anything less than four(4) pipette drops or 0.2mL. three(3) pipette drops or less is considered to be a [nothing] on the scale or in the cup.

you may note that this gives us 960mL exactly to 4 cups exactly, again, up by 10mL, you may note.

also, you can see for yourself that 960mL is 19200 pipette drops which equals 1 quart or 4 cups or 0.25 gallon (US)
and 3840mL is equal to 4 quarts or 16 cups or 1 gallon or 128 fluid ounces which amounts to 76800 grain

you can also carry this [grain] to the metric or decimal level and we find that there are precisely 80,000 pipette drops in 4Litres. no less, no more. that's just what it is for plain water, our standard.

so, that is all there is to volume for the moment then, from The King
once we have corrected weight, we may also reconsider the weight and hence volume of one fluid ounce, at that time

addendum1: the quantity of liquid in one pipette drop remains a relative constant because in order to expunge one pipette drop from a baby dropper the mouth of the dropper has to open at a certain diameter and when it does we find that a certain relative constant quantity of liquid is expelled as (one pipette drop) or the grain of the liquid

addendum2: other liquids, say gasoline, presuming a basic viscosity not entirely unlike water, apportion with the pipette drop identically, for all intensive purposes.
addendum3: the progeneration of the whole number and portion of liquid is similar to that for weight. someone acquired a quantity of liquid and said this is one [cup], and then proceeded to take one swallow or one [fluid ounce]. I am fine with the [gallon] and the [cup] and the [fluid ounce] but they are something of an avoirdupois system to me and so when we revisit weight and hence volume, I would like to revisit the whole number and portion of fresh drinking water and develop something of a troy weight whole number system of volume. you see the weight of one gallon is too much for a lady for one and for two the size of one swallow is too much for the average drungken sailor. and so, the quantity of one fluid ounce and regular number of fluid ounces in one beverage and the number of cups in one gallon remains in question, by The King (date stamp: may 03, 2010a.d. Jesus Christ)
addendum4: 592drops (29.6mL) in every 29.6875mL would be 0.050147 (ml per drop)

or

596drops (29.8mL) in every 29.6875mL would be 0.0498112 (ml per drop)

600drops (30.0ml) in every 29.6875mL would be 0.049479 (mL per drop)
the golden mean of the grain of the liquid being visible from this data as 0.05ml anyhow

addendum5: 0.2ml = 0.2grams precisely
there are 3grains weight to 4drops
that would mean that 30ml being 600 drops weighs precisely 450 grain or 30grams.
this would further mean that the corrected avoir.du.pois ounce could infact be 30grams perhaps yielding a whole new system of weight even necessarily

what is time and what do we know about it.?

the amount of time each person has appears to be of a limited quantity.
time is not a machine

each and every day under the sun is unique from the last
time is a beautiful thing like a great grandmother clock

time is not precisely a complicated thing but it takes a master of time to tell you about its' intricasies

i will tell you about time.

time is a non-arbitrary variable from the creator of the universe

we have calendars. we have watches. we have clocks. we have daytimers
clearly everyone is interested in time alittle

but what is time.?

time is like the number 1. it is whole and uniform.

yet, we as humans like to tell each other the time of day in order to stay on top of things and to keep track of the seasons

and so we find ourselves dividing time up and quantifying it with each revolution of the earth under the sun as one [day]

we find that time has a grain, not unlike weight, measure and volume.

3am (aft meridian (mis-nomer(?)*) is in fact the end of yesterday and the beginning of today

we also find that the number twelve(12) on the old clock is a falsehood.
there is no 12th hour. that is in fact hour 0. it's either 11:59.59 or hour 0

yet, in truth we find that 3am is in the actual hour zero to be located at the old 6am or 6pm position.

now the whole number of time, not unlike the [pound] of weight, is the [day].
the [hour] is like the [ounce] or portions of the day.

there are a certain number of seconds in each [day] and the [second] is like the decimal system

as to the basic quantification of the time, when it comes to one [day], hour 0 is 3a.m., as I say, and the number of hours or portions in each day is whatever we say it is.

I find one hour to be about 1hr20m myself. this is a whole [hour] by my, The Kings', reckoning, estimation and data retreival.

as for the decimal system, I prefer 100 seconds in each [minute]

with the duration of one(1) [second] as it sits on all our watches world wide

I find that a proper analog watch has the numbers 0 at the old 6am spot and goes through to the numeral 8 for a total of 9 hours in the first half of the day (pre-meridian) and again 0 through 8 for a total of 9 hours in the last half of the day (post-meridian), or you could say hours 9 through 17.

thus, with 1hr20m in an hour and 100 [second]s in each [minute] this gives us 48 minutes in each [new hour] and eighteen(18) hours in each [new day]

as we look closer, we also find that time is not a precise thing. any given time of any given day I can only tell you that it is about such&such a time because time is a non-arbitrary variable from The Creator and the duration of each day under the sun is unique. our watches could be out by plus or minus five(5) minutes or more each quarter year, at a solstice or at an equinox, as we synchronize our watches with the motion of the sun.

in the next section we will proceed to have a short look at [the calendar]

addendum1: the proper way to read time is by the quarter hour or eighth of an hour, that is by 20m or 10m fractions of the whole.
you don't say "it's 10:59pm". because by the time you've said it it's not.

let's do a quick conversion here and find 11am with the [new hour] and new zero hour, and we find that 11am is the sixth hour on our [new watch]

so you would say "it's hour six" or "it's the sixth hour". were it 11:05 we would say the same thing because the whole segment from 10:50 to 11:10 is the sixth hour. so you can see the sixth hour is around about 11am on the old clock, plus or minus 10minutes either way. you could say shye or north if it is more than 3minutes either side of eleven o'clock unless you read time by the eighth of an hour, at which point the fraction and callings of the hour is unique as the window of time for the calling is shorter.

as I say, you could call in eighths and thus call 2/8ths or 4/8ths or 6/8ths or 0/8ths, as well as of course the odd eighths. this saves you the trouble of shye or north, although generally, day to day, people operate on or about by quarter hour unless things are really precarious or dire.

now, let's have a short look at the calendar. we have attempted to count the number of days by the julian calendar from Rome for some time and in 1500(a.fter d.eath of Jesus Christ) we attempted to count the number of days by what is known today as the gregorian calendar. my calendar is neither because both of these are "off the money".

you see, each year according to the gregorian calendar, has either 365 days, or 366 days if it is a leap year
this is false
no day just materializes out of thin air every fourth year
it is the number of seconds in each day that is variable and each day is unknown precisely ahead of time

but the number of days in each year Is known ahead of time. each year has exactly the same number of days in it, each and every year, year out year in.

there are 364 days in each and every year
there are thirteen(13) lunar cycles or [month]s in each year
and within each month we find exactly twenty-eight(28) [day]s
this is our [new calendar]

we can say this about it. [money] is importent. without money, life doesn't proceed as we know it to be on earth. [money] has [meaning] and [definition], whether we like this fact or not.

I won't get into who controls money, who prints money, how much money is printed and why they can't just print some more

we'll just look at the principles of [money] itself right now

money is an idea that The King came down with at one time, as the government.

He said, you give your farm fresh food to me for my government men and personnel and I'll give you something called "money".
you can use it to exchange with other commodity traders relatively for their commodities, in life

so money seems to be a service from the government

it is importent because it represents food and without it we cannot eat or live. so we have all become dependent on this thing called money. money itself is not evil but when they say that the root of all evil is money, with an 11,000 year old vampire on this planet buryed in the money control scheme, you can say that again.

money also has a [grain] to it like weight, measure, volume and time.

what is this grain of [money]. I will just solve this mystery for you, as The King, because money is a confusing complex mystery for most people.

there are 5760 grain (1 pound) of potash in 10 bucks or 1000 pennies or ten(10) [world credit].
(I would like to say one(1) buck or one hundred (100) pennies or one(1) [world credit] to one pound of potash but [the world] is in the opposite of harmoney when it comes to money and so to bring relative truth bearing weight, harmony and meaning to money we have to work with the disaster where we are)

one(1) buck is the [world credit]. the buck or dollar can be divided into five(5) portions, 5ths or twodimes for say a telephone call or a smaller trade item apportionment but getting down to any smaller change than that would be childish, don't you think.?

I mean, a bit of potash there, a bit of potash here. who's counting too close.?

money is complicated to understand and to see how it works property for every human being on earth but it is something like having an honest honorable banker in monopoly (the board game) or a dishonest cheater and ignoramus of a banker in (the board game) monopoly

health. this as well, is a confusing word for the human race. for millenia now, we have researched it, spent hoardes of money on it, sought it, consterned over it and still we, the human race, in many ways are like a dog chasing it's own tail when it comes to this little understood facet of life on earth. endlessly seeking but never acquiring firmly or in any permanent way, that is satisfying.

health is an elusive creature, like a tree. right before your eyes. yet, like an ocean of sea water, not a drop to drink. we should be smarter than this we think. we the advanced human race. surely we can acquire and keep such a simple thing as health. we read diet books, we seek intelligence from health experts, we exercise endlessly, and yet inevitably our health declines, our life fades and we [die] or pass on.

clearly without [health], we are dead. if we have none of it, surely we cannot be breathing. yetmore erstwhile breath is life. we continue to breath and this sustains us for another day on terra firma. so, we have some of this most precious of commodities, [health] by the fact that we are not yet dead but for some reason we wish to improve our health or we are still health seekers perhaps seeking some form of happiness in some mysterious fountain of youth state of health. either way, we've decided we don't have enough of it to be satisfyed with this area of our lives.

and so, we think to take vitamins and minerals. there must be some kind of deficiency.
this doesn't seem to work

we exercise vainly. this doesn't bring us the health that we seek.

we drink more water, we have reiki sessions, we eat mysterious plants and animals. nothing seems to work.

we have come to understand that we in fact [dieing]
our [health] is declining like a mud slide whether we like it or not.

everything in our world seems to die, doesn't it.?
trees, tortoises, hares, humans, monkeys. we all die eventually. this world is not a permanent place for us.
and so we come to realize that we start out with a certain quantity of [health] and then "as soon as we drive it off the lot" our health begins to slip through our fingers like water.

hard to hold onto something as slippery as water

did we even have it in our youth.? we can't remember now. probably, some.

so, here we are, wherever we are, with however much health we have.

you have a certain amount and I have a certain amount and failing the obvious at our present rate of biometabolism or decline, you and I will die on certain days of a certain year in the future. eventually we will run out, like gas.

we find in our enquiry into health there to be a few items that seem to be indicative of a living person as compared with a dead person. there is [oxygen], [water], [food] and there is (some) [sunlight]. not unlike plants and animals, humans require these items in order to go on living.

I won't trivialize the importence of clean drinking water in our lives but I won't expand on it here

the same goes for sunlight and oxygen

however, let us take a look at the most savory part of the our living organism: [food stuffs]

there is an old saying among the wise: we are all digging our own graves with our teeth.
and it remains true to day

and so.! here is our first and last clue as to this exalted item that many many people seek in life, as though it would bring them eternal or lasting happiness, but I would like to tell you from wisdom, that [true health] is not true happiness nor true contentment. however, be that as it may, let us continue.

so we are all digging our graves with our own teeth. now I am [sick] or in other words [feeling under "the weather"].

it is too late now. I am already feeling under the weather. I am in the middle of a health situation and there is no immediate relief or way out. what are we to do.?

perhaps the shovel that got me into this mess is the very same shovel that can get me out

this echoes the words of the famous physician Hippocrates when he said "let food be your medicine and let medicine be your food" 440BC.

maybe I can eat my way to good health but I will tell you. the trouble here is that eating your way to good health while you are in the procession of dieing is something like attempting to reverse a dead car battery. it is already dead or dieing and now when it is too late and your health is lost, you propose to re-invigorate it.?

I do not wish to discourage you or cause you to lose hope in faith or hard-work but you may as well know, very few men or ladies who have suffered a severe health setback or loss, ever recover to vigorous youthful health. you have a certain amount of [health] to begin as a baby, like your cup of water and your cup is one half full until you die, unless it is half empty or it is a quarter or an eighth full or empty until you die. I will tell you the secret of health restoration. you must consider which food out of all your favorite food stuffs would be considered to be medicine by, myself.

we intelligent men and ladies quickly boil the arena down to either living fruits or living vegetables, organic. further, our investigations arrive conclusively at green vegetable leaves. these are in fact medicine among all our food stuffs. the rest sustain us but only vegetables modestly sustain, restore and keep us to tree like health propriety, it is claimed,

sex. MAYBE this is the actual holy grail of life. maybe this is the true happiness we are all seeking in life.
we seek the holy grail in money. we seek the holy grail in health. we seek the holy grail in longevity. we seek the holy grail in wisdom or acumen. and yet where is the true holy grail in life.?

sex. we all want it, but only with the right person, at the right time. of course we want a lot of it but we have to be in love and we will be having babies and a family and then of course there is no time for sex

sex is a fascinating part of life to human beings that goes on endlessly like a 5 string lute. I could play you any number of songs from my five string lute, so let us be frank, the fascination with sex will never die out, like good music.

is sex good music.? or is it bad music.?

I say to you here it may in fact be the holy grail of life that we are all seeking if we are able to "get it working" in our lives

sex is a complicated part of life for most people. it generally involves the word love and the word marriage and often the words money and family must be parcelled in there in order to acquire (some)

who is this person that we are having sex with.? presumably a person of the opposite sex. I should hope so, as your guru

why are we having sex.? it feels good but there is an alterior motive or is it an ulterior motive. I will warn you. she wants something in exchange for the sex nine times out of 10

what does she want.?

a man is just like a dog in some senses. he likes to have sex sort of like sloppy love

the way to properly acquire this holy grail is by love

when two people are in love, and they are of the age of majority and legality, they may enjoy each others company upto and including [sex]

when you want sex with another person, this is a good sign

you probably have some feelings of affection for him or her

as a man, I'll not trade with you over this item called sex.

you are the lady, I am the man. you have the sex. I want the sex
but what about the love.?

when two people love each other, their senses become clear and there path in life becomes noble

they have each other and they are content with each other.
times change, fortunes change, but their love keeps them together

why.? love is like quick silver. it's the temperature material in the temperature readout. if you've got it, then whether it's 40 below or 40 above, you two are like soap&water instead of oil and water.

the sex is then just a plus every so often and is the holy grail of this lowly life whether we are rich or poor.
