Hello All,

I am evaluating erpnext for my engineering / manufacturing and trying to setup Chart of Accounts (specifically focused on manufacturing based in India). Can someone share a sample chart of accounts for my scenario.

Regards
Sukumar S

Hi,

If you are an existing company, you should continue using the same Chart of Accounts. If you are not, just keep creating heads for expenses (rent, etc) and taxes (VAT etc) as your transactions demand. Also you will have to engage a CA at some point, that person can guide you for taxes. If you have specific queries, you can post it here, I am sure the community will be able to help you out.

best,
Rushabh

About the Chart of Accounts, is it possible for me to delete all accounts and create my own chart from the ground up? I ask because my accountant currently use a different chart and I'd like to keep using that, but I can't delete the existing ones.

Jean,

Its not possible to delete everything - esp the "root" accounts. But you can upload accounts from csv files using Setup > Data Import Tool and you can also delete empty accounts.

Also while uploading, you must first upload Accounts of type "Group" and then Accounts of type "Ledger".

Also for Customers and Suppliers, accounts are created automatically, so no need to upload them.

best,
Rushabh
