Hi

I'm curious if anyone can give me some details on Garmins - what can they do - what can't they do?  Are they worth the money that I've seen them advertised for?
Most of my mileage is dirt/back roads so I'm mostly looking for something that can tell me how many miles I've went and maybe how fast/slow I've covered those miles.

I'm not sure with how slow my pace is if it's worth the money or not.  However, with Christmas coming sooner than later - just wondering if it'd be worth putting it on my Christmas list.

Thanks

I have used a 305 and upgraded to the 405 due to its smaller size.  Both work well, on roads and trails both.

I have the 205 and I love it. I think I paid $150 for it, but it was
worth every dollar. I figure I've saved at least that from not having
to "drive my route" after the run to see how far it was. I have never
hooked it up to my computer and use the programs or software that it
comes with. I rarely look back & analyze my runs (OK, never).

I use it basically to see my mileage and pace while I'm running. I run
a lot of back country roads and trails...and it's great for
calculating mileage in places a car can't go. I've never lost my
signal...even running through the Gerard Trail in Oil City (or is that
Titusville? anyway...).

I love mine. Worth every buck.

I just received a Garmin Forerunner 405 as a gift, and I can't wait to get it out of the box and figure out how it works.  I think it will be especially helpful in determining the distances I run.  Technology is great....
