Stopped by the new store today. It's in the Schaal Glass Plaza on W
12th St. It's tough to get into Westbound as it's just past the Value
City / West Erie Plaza entrance on the south side of the street, and
the left-turn lane faces the other direction. But folks that have
lived in Erie long enough will know how to deal with that. (I came
from the West, so it was easy to turn in.)
There's no overhead sign up yet, so I drove right past it twice. But
I knew it was there, so I went back and found it. Right now the sign
is a vinyl piece in the front windows. The overhead sign is coming
soon enough.
It's no Erie Sports Store, but if you're like me, you won't mind that
a bit. Walk into a store that is quite obviously a running store and
you can tell right away. They mean business. Running shoes on one
wall, running clothes down the middle, and accessories down the other
wall. There's a treadmill in the back corner. I found some pretty
obscure running shoes on the wall, which tells me these folks are
serious about getting the _right_ shoes on the customers' feet. Heck,
they even have shoe sizers sitting there. It doesn't get much better
than that.
XC shoes with replaceable spikes, and the spike tools to go with
them. Technical shorts & shirts for the serious runners. Gotta love
that. Two folks sitting in the store, exhausted from the
customers....
Okay, folks, this is where I get a little cheesy. I don't need any
shoes right now, as I have two new pairs still in the box. But I'm
going to pick up a couple of shirts and some new technical socks.
Just to let them know I'm glad they're there and to encourage them to
stay. With 600+ members (1600+ if you count all family members), I
can see just the ERC bringing them a lot of business.
I'm excited.
Jim.
