EPGP standbys

I keep reading that there is a 'check box' that will allow me to
manually add people as a standby but the only standby feature I can
find is the built in one.

The thing is, I only want stuff to be broadcasted to officer chat
because of all the unnecessary spam to guild/raid chat, but I want
tobe able to add people to standby.

My question: How do I manually add someone to standby without them
having to whisper me every x minutes, but it also automatically taking
them off standby if they log off? or is this not a function that is
possible?

We just started using EPGP this evening and I love it, but I need to
give the standbys some love too and doing it manually would be too
much of a hassle.

There are two modes:

1) Whisper/Automatic: people whisper for EP awards. All standbys get removed from the list when an award happens and need to whisper again. They also get a whisper saying they got removed as a reminder.

2) Manual: shift click each member. The standby list is preserved after each reward.
