Disruptions caused by the ongoing
pandemic to health systems around the world have
decreased since August 2020, but a significant
number of countries are still experiencing
interruptions in essential services including
routine immunizations, family planning and care
for dental emergencies, mental health and
cancer, the World Health Organization says. The
pandemic is also putting pressure on vaccine
manufacturing and syringe production, reports
UNICEF COVAX supply coordinator Gian

The pandemic has highlighted how
connected the global community is, and
multilateral solutions are needed to address
issues such as climate change, weapons
proliferation and regulation of new
technologies, said United Nations
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in a message
marking the International Day of Multilateralism
and Diplomacy for Peace. "Let's unite our
resources, technologies, knowledge and
experiences to build peace, to build back better
and to make 'no one is safe until everyone is
safe' a reality and a fact of life," said UN
Economic and Social Council President Munir
Akram, echoing the UN chief's
sentiments. Full Story: Associated Press of
