Participants of "Dancing with the Stars" Joined the Clean-Up Campaign



On June 28, the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth-Georgia,
with support of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection
and under initiation of Imedi TV Company has carried out a large-scale clean
up action in the framework of "Clean Up Georgia" and "Clean to Europe"
campaigns. What is more, a nomination "Clean Yard" for the contest "Clean
Region" took place in Imedi TV Company surrounding park area.



The event was attended by the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources
Protection Mr. Gigla Agulashvili, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia H.E. Ms . Martina Quick,
Tbilisi City Hall Cleaning Service (Tbilservice Group ltd), programme
officer of the Swedish Embassy Ms. Khatuna Zaldastanishvili, participants of
Imedi TV Show “Dancing with the Stars” , journalists, employees of Imedi TV
Company, project “Clean Up Georgia” implementing NGO consortium members.



The participating pairs of Imedi TV Show "Dancing with the Stars" were
notable by their activeness and also noted, that they welcome such events
and expressed their readiness to take part in similar undertakings. During
the event, participants cleaned up about 2 ha area, collected 15 m3 of waste
and around 60 volunteers took part in the event.



Clean up action has been conducted within the framework of the project
“Clean Up Georgia” (Phase III) and implemented by NGO consortium Greens
Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth Georgia, Georgian Society of Nature
Explorers “Orchis, “Ecological Awareness and Waste Management” with
financial support of Swedish Government and in collaboration with the
Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia and
Solid Waste Management Company.
