UNIDO Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP)
Demonstration Project
in Georgia
United Nations Industrial
Development Organization (UNIDO) is implementing a
Resource Efficient and
Cleaner Production Demonstration Project (RECP) in
Georgia. Objective of the
Project is to promote more efficient use of
resources (energy, materials and
water) and reduce risks to the environment
and human health in Georgian
enterprises. The project is a component of the
regional program of the
European Union EAP GREEN: Greening Economies in the
European Union’s Eastern
Partnership Countries.
The RECP project envisages the
establishment of so called RECP Clubs in
different regions of Georgia. The
principal idea of a RECP Club is to bring
together small and medium size
enterprises (SME) from the same region and
take them jointly through an
intensive training and coaching programme over
a period of about 4 months,
leading to a customized RECP action plan for all
member companies upon
completion of the Club. Implementation of the RECP
action plans will
help the companies to save energy, water and materials,
reduce the negative
impacts on the environment and human health, to increase
the profit, to be
in compliance with the requirements of Georgian
environmental legislation
and to improve access to financing for investments
in cleaner technologies.
RECP Club member companies will receive UNIDO
certificates upon the
completion of the Club.
Two RECP Clubs were established under the
project in the Kakheti Region and
Rustavi Municipality in 2015. 16 companies
involved in these Clubs have now
developed action plans for Resource
Efficient and Cleaner Production.
Establishment of two new RECP
Clubs have been planned in the Kaspi and
Kutaisi municipalities. With this
objective, the RECP project is organizing
first meetings with SMEs located
in these municipalities. The meeting in
Kaspi will be organized on 16 March
at 11:00 AM in the building of the Kaspi
local government – Gamgeoba (M.
Kostava Str. #18). The Meeting in Kutaisi
will be organized on 17 March at
13:00 in the Kutaisi City Hall (Rustaveli
ave. #3).
