Are countries on track to meet their GHG emission targets and achieve the Paris Agreement goals?
Ahead of COP29, join us for the release of the Climate Action Monitor 2024, which is the principal publication of the OECD’s International Programme for Action on Climate (IPAC). It provides an annual comprehensive assessment of country progress towards net zero and the Paris Agreement commitments. This year's edition presents an in-depth evaluation of net-zero-targets, major climate-related hazards, and key trends in climate policy action. Its findings suggest that current 2030 GHG emission commitments are not ambitious enough to meet the Paris Agreement temperature goals, and that countries will not meet the net-zero challenge without a significant expansion in national climate action.
This session will discuss the Climate Action Monitor’s findings in the context of the evolution of global climate and current national emissions targets in the context of increasing climate-related hazards.
