Call for Nominations : UNEP Young Champions of the Earth 2019 (Deadline 31 March 2019) | |||||||||||||

Tackling our environmental crisis takes bravery, determination and grit. Our world needs extraordinary talent, innovative thinking and brave ideas. For the third year running, UN Environment and Covestro are calling on 18-30-year-old innovators to submit their creative solutions to the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.
Representing every global region, seven applicants with the most promising solutions will be recognized as Young Champions of the Earth – the world’s preeminent environmental honour for young people. Each winner will receive USD 15,000 in seed funding, customized training, participation in a high-level UN meeting and global publicity. The initiative aims to not only empower and celebrate these talented young individuals, but also to highlight the issues they confront and the solutions they advance in each of their global regions. The winners will be expected to implement their big ideas and act as ambassadors of cause at speaking opportunities, while providing regular progress updates in the form of videos and blogs that will be shared on the website.
How to apply:
Selection process: The selection process has three rounds. 1. The open call for applications will run until 31 March 2019. Each applicant will be required to submit responses to a series of questions and upload a referee’s letter of endorsement. 2. Finalists—drawn from every world region—will be short-listed by UN experts and requested to submit short videos pitching their big ideas. 3. In the final stage, a Global Jury will review the World Finalists’ big ideas and choose seven Young Champions of the Earth. The winners will be publicly announced and invited to attend the Champions of the Earth Award Ceremony.
