Project
Training in Management of Chemical Substances and
Materials
On 15-22 December 2016, NGO “Ecological Awareness and
Waste Management”
conducted a training for the laboratory staff of
scientific and research
firm “Gama” on the management of obsolete, overdue
and outdated chemical
substances and materials. The training, conducted
within the framework of
the “Clean Up Georgia – Phase III” Project, was held
in the “Gama” Office.
The training was attended by the staff of
scientific and research firm
"Gama", St. Andrew Georgian University,
Georgian Technical University, and a
group of undergraduate and graduate
students.
The aim of the training was to introduce the trainees
to the modern methods
of handling abandoned chlorine containers and
cylinders, as well as
identification, recording, storage, use, partial
utilization on the site,
transportation and final disposal of chemical
substances and materials kept
in educational institutions in inadequate
conditions.
Special attention was paid to the strengthening of
the skills for
identification of substances of unknown composition and safe
utilization on
the site. The training was delivered by project coordinators.
They were
supported by the leading specialists from scientific and research
firm
"Gamma" and the St. Andrew Georgian University.
The
project “Clean Up Georgia-Phase III” is implemented by a Consortium of
NGOs
“Ecological Awareness and Waste Management”, Georgian Society of Nature
Explorers “Orchis” and “Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the
Earth
-Georgia” with the full financial support of the Swedish
Government.
