Hi,
Russian tanks rolled into Ukraine. In one moment, the lives and landscapes of the country changed. But the full cost of war is not felt in a moment, it ripples throughout one's life.
Sleepless nights huddled together in the basement. Air raid sirens punchering the air at unknown intervals. Tearful goodbyes with grandparents unable to make the journey. It’s a suffering that stays.
People all over the world stepped up. Opening their homes or chipping in for blankets and food. But, there’s an area of support flying under the radar.
Our partners at Polish Migration Forum have seen it first hand. Those left with mental scars have no care in sight. They're trying their best - funding a few psychologists and running a local helpline.
But, they’re spread too thin and exhausting their resources. So, Vladimir, we had an idea. Small actions, taken by each of us in this community, add up to a big impact.
If we come together, chipping in €3 or €5 each, we could raise the €13,000 needed to increase the amount of psychologists they can count on! Better yet, we can raise the funds to do this and start planning more actions that support people fleeing war.
So, how about it, will you chip in and help provide support to those carrying the scars of war?

This is a suffering that can’t be captured on television screens. So it’s going unnoticed and unfunded. But, we’re a community that doesn’t stand by. We partner up and take action on the biggest issues of the day - issues that would otherwise get sidelined.
And it’s been working. Already 93,410 of us signed the petition calling for the EU to protect all people fleeing the war. Then, for the first time in history, EU leaders decided to invoke a special law protecting people fleeing war! [1]
It shows - when people come together, we can help more than any of us could alone. But this is just the beginning and we can only afford to stay in the fight because of people like you, individuals who each give a little to keep us going.
Whether it’s fleeing war or climate breakdown, we will need to be equipped to take actions that truly make a difference in people’s lives. From confronting decision makers with a wave of opposition to providing frontline care through psychologists with our partners.
If thousands of us chip in just a little now, it will add up to a big difference. We could get moving on:
- Providing trained psychologists to assist refugees in Poland, giving the Polish Migration Forum the resources to cover all the costs of a psychologist working full-time for five months. That’s 100 extra people per month we’d be able to help!
- Running a helpline over the phone, as the psychologists will not be able to visit every emergency accommodation centre. This way we can help more children and adults across Poland/Europe carrying the scars of war.
- Putting the building blocks in place for more actions like this, by establishing a campaign fund that enables us and our partners to move fast. This is how we will meet new needs as they emerge and challenge future political decisions taken by the EU.
We know what we need to provide. That’s ensuring this kind of care does not fly under the radar any longer. And we have a plan to get there. Working with local partners to get trained support up and running…
But to pull this off we all need to get behind the idea. So, I’m asking you if you’ll join the thousands of us committed to helping those fleeing war start to heal?

means Ukrainian citizens and non-EU citizens who benefited from international or
national protection in Ukraine will quickly get residence permits in EU
countries. But, unless national governments decide otherwise, there are still
some people who will be left behind - e.g.foreign students and temporary
workers. Add your name to the demand to ensure ALL people fleeing war are
protected!
