Members of the United Nations
Security Council will hold a public meeting on
Sunday to discuss the ongoing conflict between
Israeli and Palestinian forces after failing to
reach consensus on a resolution during two
meetings earlier this week. UN Secretary-General
Antonio Guterres has appealed for immediate
cease-fire in the region as violence between the
two sides escalates for the fifth consecutive

Production of COVID-19 vaccines
around the world must double and distribution
must be more equitable to end the pandemic, says
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio
Guterres, noting that some developed countries
have purchased more vaccines than needed while

Reports of domestic violence and

climbed sharply amid the pandemic, while
movements against policies aimed at ensuring
gender equity have gained ground in many
regions, warns Dubravka Simonovic, United
Nations special rapporteur on violence against

Alok Sharma, president of this
year's United Nations climate summit, is urging
countries around the world to commit to ending
their reliance on coal power ahead of the event
this November. "...let's make Cop26 the moment
we leave [coal power] in the past where it
