Hi,
Thanks to you, the EU Parliament just voted to crack down on single-use plastic pollution! The new legislation is not perfect but will help ensure producers are held accountable for the costs of single-use plastic pollution. In short, your voice was louder than the plastics lobby’s. [1]
In the next weeks, national governments will have to take a stand, so we need to keep the pressure up. You’ve already raised your voice, but maybe you know someone who hasn’t spoken up yet.
Need some help motivating your friends and family to get involved? Tell them they’ve got plastic in their poop. Yes, really. Research came out just this week showing that pretty much all of us are pooping plastic. [2]
So send your friends this email and ask them to sign the petition. There’s already over 120,000 of us, but we need their voice to make this win stick.
If you don’t use social networks please feel free to forward this email or copy the link: https://act.wemove.eu/campaigns/eu-single-use-plastic. You can also use the prewritten mail below.
Determined,
Mika (Bordeaux), Jörg (Lübeck), Virginia (Madrid), and the rest of us at WeMove.EU

Hi,
A sperm whale was found dead on a Spanish beach. 29 kilograms of plastic in its stomach blocked its digestive system. This is the fate many fish, turtles, whales, birds, dolphins, and other animals risk daily as our ocean becomes a plastic soup.
Thanks to public outcry, the European Commission proposed a new law to reduce single-use plastics and stem the huge tide of plastic waste. And the EU Parliament voted to support this measure. Unfortunately, some EU countries are likely under pressure from the plastic industry to derail this hopeful proposal for our environment.
But we have momentum on our side. If we keep the pressure up these stronger rules will take effect. Next, the proposal will be discussed by EU national governments. We need them to resist the plastic industry’s lobbying and to support the new rules.
