Hi Alexey,
Every year,
countless whales die horrible deaths
from collisions with speeding ships.
[1] While deafening engine noise makes it
difficult for them to communicate and find food.
[2]
In a few months,
our leaders will meet at the UN Ocean
Conference to agree on action to
protect marine life. [3]
We have a
simple but efficient demand: slowing ships
down by 20% could prevent up to 78% of
deadly whale collisions. [4] But if we
want our leaders to take
notice, they need to hear this call from
thousands of citizens.
Public
mobilisation has already brought us closer to
real ocean protection. Thanks to
pressure from thousands of Europeans, more and
more countries are saying NO to digging,
dredging and destroying the deep sea for
minerals. [5]
Now we have an
opportunity to do even more for the Blue Planet.
Add your name to slow down ships and speed up
ocean protection. OceanCare, the marine
conservation advocates behind this petition,
will deliver it to those in power at the
upcoming global conference. Every
signature
counts!
