Newly Equipped Eco Laboratory Opening at

On March 29th, in the framework of the project Climate Change Adaptation and
Disaster Mitigation (CCADM) implemented by CENN with the financial support
of USAID, the official opening of the newly equipped eco laboratory of
Samtskhe-Javakheti State Teaching University will take place. Professors and
students of the University, as well as environmental organizations existing
in the region will be using the laboratory for educational and scientific
purposes.



Through this initiative, Samtskhe-Javakheti State University has been
equipped with computer software and hardware. In addition, in close
cooperation with the National Envrionmental Agency, the university’s
meteorological station was rehabilitated and trainings were conducted with
the station’s staff.



Students and lecturers as well as representatives from USAID, CENN, local
schools and non-governmental sector will attend the eco club opening
ceremony.



In February 2013, within the framework of the above mentioned project, CENN
conducted training on the use of an air pollution assessment computer
program in Samtskhe - Javakheti State University. Furthermore, in the public
school of Atskuri village, a workshop was conducted on project training and
civil activity.



The project Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Mitigation (CCADM) is
being implemented since 2009 in six municipalities of Georgia and will end
in March of this year. Within the framework of the project, climate change
scenario, climate change mitigation plans and vulnerability maps were
developed for the Akhaltsikhe municipality and the vulnerability of the
municipality was also assessed.
