Close the Door on Nuclear Power in 2019!

Thank You for an Inspiring, Action-Packed 2018!

Now Let's Close the Door on Nuclear Power in 2019

It's Time for a Green New Deal and a Nuclear-Free, Carbon-Free World!

Your activism and support has had an incredible impact this year--right when the world has needed it most!

This year, in the face of political and environmental crises we haven't seen in decades--including proposals to promote nuclear power and spread radioactive waste across the country--the safe energy movement responded. We have major fights ahead of us in 2019, but this year we proved that--together--we can close the door on nuclear power, for good.

Let's make next year the beginning of the end of nuclear power.

Here's a recap of just a few of the victories, highlights, and milestones for the No Nukes movement in 2018:

  • Stopped Trump's first massive nuclear-and-coal bailout.
  • Prevented nuclear bailouts in two states: Ohio and Pennsylvania.
  • Added five more reactor closure announcements--bringing the total to 12 shutdowns by 2025.
  • Blocked passage of Nuclear Waste America legislation for the sixth consecutive year.
  • Mobilized over ten thousand to stop nuclear waste dumps proposed in Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas.
  • And last but not least--won a major Don't Nuke the Climate victory at the COP24 Global Climate Summit ... and a commitment from Germany to block financing for nuclear power under the Paris Climate Treaty.

This is progress we can build on in 2019--with your support. Chip in now to start the year strong.

It doesn't always feel like each email to our elected officials, every petition we sign, or the next protest makes enough of a difference. Sometimes it's hard to see the real progress we are making when we are in climactic times.

But despite that, and with thousands and thousands of us joining together and mobilizing, time and time again ... our actions make a real impact. Nuclear corporations want us to feel small, isolated, ineffective, unqualified to speak out. The truth is just the opposite.

We can and we will make a nuclear-free, carbon-free world ... not despite the odds, but because the odds are in our favor: we have each other, we show up, we speak out, as long and as many times as we need to.

Please pay it forward one more time with a generous year-end donation to NIRS.

The momentum for a sustainable energy revolution is building. With every reactor that closes ... every radioactive waste dump we stop ... and people across the country rallying for a Green New Deal ... the work we do in 2019 is crucial. Your activism and your support are more important now than ever.

Thanks for all you do to make a nuclear-free, carbon-free world!
