In the southern
region of Guangxi, China, the Yulin Dog Meat Festival
has become an infamous annual event.
This "festival,"
is actually just a dog meat trade where thousands of
dogs are killed for their meat. Contrary to what the
festival organizers might claim, most of
the population in China doesn't even
consume dog meat.
On top of that,
some of the dogs slaughtered at Yulin are literally
abducted from Chinese households by vendors who want
extra meat.
We stand in solidarity with
the Chinese people and animal protection groups that are
demanding the Chinese government take
action.
These animals
are often transported over long distances, crammed into
cages with little food or water, and arrive sick and
traumatized. Upon arrival, they face brutal
killings, including being beaten, strangled, or
stabbed in full view of other dogs, further adding
to their trauma. Sometimes, the dogs are even skinned
and boiled alive. Images and stories from the
festival are a thing of nightmares.
By increasing
law enforcement, creating a public education campaign,
and challenging dog meat trading legally, the state can
crack down on this horrific annual event. Sign now if you
agree!
