For 500 years, Brazil’s Indigenous Tupinamba people have fought
for their land -- but the threats they face now could
finally overwhelm them.
On top of out-of-control mining and slash-and-burn agriculture on
their ancestral lands, now a mega-logging company wants to
clear-cut hundreds of acres of Amazon rainforest to make a
quick buck.
There's only one way the Tupinamba can stop this
-- if they can file a legal claim to their land with the federal
government.
That means they'll be traveling across their territory,
painstakingly marking the borders of their land, kilometer by
kilometer -- the only way they can ensure their land has a chance at
being protected.
But to do it they need to raise funds urgently to pay for
provisions, GPS equipment, boats to make the weeks-long
journey along their borders and campaigning to protect ancestral
lands. They’re setting off in just a few days -- and they
need your help right now to make it.

In a just world, the Tupinamba people could turn to their
government to uphold their land claims and defend them against
illegal corporate incursions.
However, the pro-corporate, right-wing administration of
Jair Bolsonaro has declared an all-out assault on Indigenous
land rights in the Amazon, and logging, mining, and
destructive agriculture have run rampant as a result.
Faced with this challenge, the Tupinamba people are
taking the protection of their land into their own hands.
They’re heading out deep into the forest to mark out their territory
and lay claim to the land with the federal government.
This is time-consuming, tedious, and very expensive work -- but
you can help make it possible, Vladimir. Can you chip in today to
fund their expedition to map their territory and defend their
homeland?

We know we can win this fight because you’ve done it
before. SumOfUs members like you donated to support
Indigenous peoples in Canada fighting to protect their lands from
wide-scale spraying of the toxic pesticide glyphosate, and together,
we won.
With your donation today, you can help the Tupinamba
people achieve a massive victory in their fight to preserve
their lands for future generations to come. Claiming their boundary
lines will force the government to recognize their claims -- but
it’s only possible with your support.
