Towards
COP27: UNECE Regional Forum on Climate
Finance
Regional
cooperation on enhancing sustainable management and financing
for the critical raw materials required for low-carbon
transition
17
OCTOBER 2022 | 9 AM - 6 PM CEST | PALAIS DES NATIONS | GENEVA
& ONLINE
Public and
private climate finance is not flowing at the pace or scale
needed to accelerate sustainable development in line with the
Paris Agreement and the SDGs. Linking potential investors with
projects requiring investment is a critical step in narrowing
the current gap in Paris Agreement-aligned financial
flows. Against this background, the UNECE
Regional Forum seeks to convene member States looking to raise
capital for critical climate projects and initiatives, as well
as representatives of financial institutions, private
sector, civil society and international
organizations.
The Forum will
present 30+ projects at a pre-financed stage
in more than 10 countries. PPP and infrastructure
projects that support low-carbon transitions will be
presented to accelerate green finance required for a
sustainable transition.
Join the event
to learn more about the green energy transition
projects!
The event is
organized in five Panel Sessions with the second Panel, from
11:15 – 12:30, focusing on PPPs and Climate Finance
Instruments.
High-level Panel
2: Public-private partnerships and Climate Finance
Instruments - opportunities to scale-up for
CRM
Climate finance
and the need for increased sustainability-focused investments
for CRMs, the role of public-private partnerships (PPPs), and
other climate finance instruments and sources, such as green
bonds, in supporting mitigation and adaptation efforts to
address climate change are critical to a transition to a
circular economy and the achievement of the SDGs and the Paris
Agreement.
1.
How can PPPs and infrastructure projects unlock access
to climate finance and catalyse private investment for green
energy transition projects, including CRMs, particularly in
low- and middle-income countries?
2.
What are the recommended public policy actions for
governments to ensure that PPPs and infrastructure projects
become more green, circular, inclusive, resilient, fiscally
sustainable, of high quality, and contribute to the
SDGs?
