It's raining glyphosate in Canada: forestry
companies are using planes to spray Monsanto's toxic pesticide on
remote Indigenous forests.
Animals are dying and food and medicine plants are being wiped
out. It’s a huge crisis for these communities but,
so far, the Canadian government, who can force the
forestry companies to stop this rain of death, is turning a
blind eye to the destruction.
But with your help, that’s about to change.
A brave group of Indigenous elders has been working tirelessly in
the fight of their lives -- and they are on the brink of
filing legal action against the Canadian government to protect their
land from this toxic pesticide rain.
But without your help the lawsuit won’t even get into courts.

Glyphosate, the key ingredient in RoundUp, is Bayer-Monsanto’s
favorite pesticide. But it’s a massive health concern for humans --
over 13,000 people have taken the corporate giant to court over
cancers related to using glyphosate.
Now, as planes drench their forests with this poison, Indigenous
communities are watching in horror as beavers, rabbits,
songbirds, and porcupines disappear from their land. They
also can’t eat or make medicine out of glyphosate-doused plants -- a
critical part of their culture and food security.
Legal battles cost a lot of money -- upwards of
$100,000 -- and there’s no way that the elders from these
communities, some as small as a few hundred, can take on the
Canadian government without your help.
At this critical moment, as they prepare to launch their
lawsuit, they need your help more than ever.

The Indigenous elders have only gotten this far because
of you. SumOfUs members have generously contributed to
ensure that elders could gather to decide, according to their
traditional ways, how to proceed. And you made sure that they have
great legal counsel to help them strategize the best way to move
forward.
SumOfUs members like you have also been integral in pushing for
glyphosate bans in Austria, fighting its re-licensing in Europe and
supporting victims of glyphosate poisoning like Dewayne Johnson.
And together, we’re winning. Vietnam has
outright banned the toxic chemical. Retailers like Costco are
getting glyphosate off store shelves. Bayer-Monsanto’s stock value
is plummeting, and even its own shareholders are revolting against
glyphosate!
You’ve shown time and time again that when ordinary people come
together, we can take on even the biggest corporate giants. And with
your help today, this small group of Indigenous elders in Canada can
make history.
