Dear
Evgeny,
It is a pleasure to invite you to the
public launch of Riverscope, a new geospatial tool for
assessing for the impacts and alternatives to
hydropower.
Widespread displacement, threats to food
security, and loss of biodiversity and indigenous cultures are just
a few of the severe impacts frequently associated with hydropower
development. Alternatives like solar and wind take up far less
area than hydropower and come with fewer risks. However,
hydropower assessment processes are largely ineffective at capturing
the true costs, mis-leading nations and companies to invest in
hydropower as clean, sustainable and cost-effective
energy.
Riverscope uses GIS analysis, investigative
study and financial modeling. It is designed to equip governments,
investors, and civil society to evaluate the true impacts of various
forms of energy. Using a data-backed approach, we can
choose options that do less harm to our rivers
and freshwater ecosystems.
Please join us for an
interactive webinar on August 25 to learn more. Register here to

Please
also feel free to forward this to your networks, and let us know if
there are any questions. Thank you for your invaluable support and
solidarity!
