Hong
Kong: three rallies mark 11 th weekend of
protests. The nationalist tabloid, published by
the ruling Communist Party's official People's
Daily, said the situation in Hong Kong "won't be a
repeat of the June 4th political incident in
1989," referring to the bloody military crackdown
on pro-democracy demonstrations in Beijing's
Tiananmen Square 30 years ago.

The
Security Council considered the volatile situation
surrounding Kashmir on Friday, addressing the
issue in a meeting focused solely on the dispute,
within the UN body dedicate to resolving matters
of international peace and security, for the first
time since 1965. The Chinese Ambassador, Zhang
Jun, spoke to reporters outside the chamber
following deliberations, urging both India and
Pakistan to “refrain from taking any unilateral
action which might further aggravate” what was an
already “tense and very dangerous”
situation.

Southern
Yemeni separatists withdrew on Saturday from some
government buildings in Aden that they seized last
week but held on to military camps that give them
control over the southern port, interim seat of
Yemen’s ousted Saudi-backed government. The
separatists’ takeover of Aden has strained a
Saudi-led military coalition formed to confront
the Iranian-aligned Houthis, who bombed a Saudi
oil facility on Saturday. The United Arab
Emirates has called for dialogue without directly
asking the southern forces to cede control. Saudi
Arabia wants to host a summit to end the crisis.
Hadi’s government says it will not attend before
separatists reverse what it calls their
coup.

North
Korea has rejected any further talks with South
Korea, calling its decision “completely the fault
of South Korea’s actions. It issued a statement
in response to a speech by South Korea President
Moon Jae-in on Thursday: in a speech marking
Korea's liberation from Japanese rule, President
Moon vowed to unite the Korean peninsula by
2045. Meanwhile, early on Friday North Korea
test-fired two missiles into the sea off its
eastern coast, the South Korean military
said.
