Sign Now        The U.S. military is the largest on the whole planet, and other countries' military sizes don't even come close. Receiving a whopping $800 billion every year in government funding, the U.S. military alone emits more greenhouse gasses than the majority of entire nations.   In fact, the Department of Defense consumes almost 80% of fuel used by the entire U.S. government. One report even found that the military has emitted more than 1.2 billion metric tons of greenhouse gases since the beginning of the War on Terror in 2001.    A single Humvee vehicle provides somewhere between 4-8 miles of transit per gallon of fuel used. An F-35 fighter jet is even worse, requiring 2.37 gallons per each mile.    The Department of Defense has literally never passed a single government financial audit. So why do we keep trusting it with so much money? Those funds could be better used elsewhere, such as on programs to fight climate change.   The clock is ticking on decarbonizing the planet and solving the ecological crisis we created before it is too late.    It is time for Congress to stop wasting money, and to stop contributing to so much climate chaos.
