A status update on why we MUST cut wasteful, corrupt nuclear bailouts in the Build Back Better Act ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Thank you for standing with us and raising your voice to demand that leaders in Washington take action towards a just transition to a 100% renewable energy futurecarbon-free and nuclear-free. We know we’ve been asking a lot of you and we wanted to give you a status update on how far we’ve come in demanding real climate action instead of the false promises of nuclear power that only enrich corrupt corporations while leaving frontline communities behind.

If you’ve been following all of the news, know this: the reason the huge spending bills haven’t passed is that environmental and climate justice activists are turning the tide. We have prevented corporations and the forces of compromise and obstruction from throwing away our best chance for a nuclear-free, carbon-free energy future—and we are winning the debate!

When the White House first announced in March that it wanted its Build Back Better agenda to include a massive “clean energy” tax credit for dirty, dangerous, old nuclear power plants, we knew we had to act. We knew a national nuclear bailout would be a major mistake and would block renewable energy and divert billions of dollars from real climate solutions, ultimately deepening the climate crisis.

You showed up, took action, and joined a groundswell of grassroots activists to demand better.

Together, we’ve sent 105,000 messages to President Biden and Congress, including all 100 Senators and 413 members (95%) of the House. You’ve also joined us in protests at Congressional offices and Capitol Hill, including last week’s historic People vs. Fossil Fuels week of action, in which a total of 655 people were arrested in acts of civil disobedience, demanding that President Biden uphold his commitments to climate action and environmental justice.

Together, we have accomplished so much. And the good news is that we’ve been winning! Over the last six months, the nuclear bailout proposal has been cut back from as much as $200 billion to about $35 billion.

Now, we have to get it cut completely.

It has never been a more important time for you to tell your elected leaders to cut wasteful, corrupt nuclear bailouts in the Build Back Better Act.

Tell the White House and Congress: NO nuclear bailouts!

Stick with us as we continue to mobilize grassroots voices to protect our future and demand a just transition to a clean, renewable energy future.

TAKE ACTION!
Thank you and be well,
