Hi everyone,
A few people have asked me about this - so I am resending
it to this group (Google Groups "IPCC48")
ATTACHED
BRIEFINGS AND RESOURCES TO HELP YOU:
- How to meet the 1.5 degree climate target -
sector by sector - This briefing sets out the transformations that
would be needed for emissions to fall enough to meet the 1.5 degree climate
target across five sectors - energy supply, land use, industry, transport, and
buildings - drawing on the same literature as the IPCC special report. (20
pages)
- Comparing climate impacts at
1.5°C, 2°C, 3°C and 4°C - This brief looks at what climate impacts
we can expect at different levels of temperature rise. It compares the two
scenarios outlined in the IPCC report (1.5°C vs. 2°C) but also higher levels
of warming: the 3°C-4°C suggested by NDCs and current government policy. (6
pages)
- Regional impacts at 1.5°C, 2°C, 3°C and
4°C - Climate impacts at 1.5°C and over 1.5°C across a range of
GSCC regions. This brief outlines relevant information for GSCC desks on
country NDCs and projected impacts across several regions. We have used the
same temperature ranges in this brief as the one above. (19 pages)
- Carbon Dioxide Removal and the 1.5 degree
climate target - This brief looks at the different ways to get to
1.5°C, provides useful information for answering tough questions about carbon
drawdown and temperature overshoot, and describes how emissions and
temperatures might change over the coming century. (6 pages)
- The multiple benefits of the 1.5 degree climate
target - There are many other benefits (or 'co-benefits') of
ambitious climate goals, including better health, more secure access to food
(including higher production from fisheries), better energy security, more
economic growth, and better mobility. This brief outlines some of the indirect
benefits of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. (4 pages)
- Health impacts of climate change at 1.5°C, 2°C,
and 3°C - Climate change impacts human health. This brief looks at
these how these impacts could become progressively worse as temperatures
increase. (5 pages)
- Renewables theme
brief - This contain useful information on the rapid growth of
renewable power. Key global trends and projections - very useful for providing
context to the IPCC report. (15 pages)
- Resource: Useful science
papers - Key scientific papers that underpin the IPCC report
across a range of central topics - may be useful for sharing with people who
need the raw materials, EG journalists for background. (6
pages)
