Dear friends, This Saturday, leaders of the world's biggest nature conservation union are gathered in Rwanda for a major congress! In a few hours, they could adopt a final declaration that will influence the future of key biodiversity negotiations this year. But insiders told us the current draft text has yet to recognize the need to conserve at least 50% of the planet -- what science says is crucial to stop mass extinction. We only have a few hours to influence the negotiations -- and allies on the ground told us that massive public pressure coming from Twitter could be game-changing to ensure the global goal of 50% is alive, and indigenous rights are respected! Will you keep the 50% goal alive in the #KigaliDeclaration? #APAC2022 A study from Sept 2020 states that at least 50.4% of the lands should be under some form of conservation.
