Orangutans die and forests are destroyed for cheap palm oil. The European Commission uses our tax money to subsidise a lot of it as fake ‘green fuel’. Together we can stop them! |
Hi,
The expansion of palm oil plantations destroys some of the planet’s remaining rainforests and kills orangutans. You may not be aware that most palm oil in Europe is actually used for diesel. [1]
This week, we can push the European Commission to end deforestation and save orangutans, as they have a chance to stop subsidising palm oil fuel in the EU.
Click on the orangutans to save them:

We have to act fast! The Commission has only until 1 February to decide whether to phase out palm oil fuel in the EU.
Next Monday, we have planned a demonstration in Brussels with our partners to make sure that the Commission stops subsidising this fake ‘green fuel’. [2] Palm oil fuel is three times worse for climate change than regular diesel because of the deforestation it causes. [3] As millions of acres of rainforests are destroyed, orangutans are deprived of their natural habitat and starve.

The Commission is preparing to come to a decision by the end of the month. During our demonstration next Monday, we need a strong show of support that as Europeans we don’t want palm oil in our tanks. Together, we can make a difference!
With hope,
Mika (Bordeaux), Giulio (Rome), Virginia (Madrid), Jörg (Lübeck) and the entire WeMove team
