January 2023 | News and Updates on National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Processes
Hello NAP Global Network Members!

NEW THIS MONTH

Explore the Government of Eswatini’s adaptation outreach programme through photos, case studies, and key findings. Under the programme, the Eswatini NAP task team organized awareness-raising workshops in the country’s four regions and documented communities’ Traditional and Indigenous Knowledge on climate change to inform the NAP process. More details in a new briefing note.

Haiti submitted its NAP to the UNFCCC in early January. “Even though the situation in the country remains uncertain, we have to move ahead with the activities set out in Haiti’s National Adaptation Plan process,” said Gerty Pierre, Climate Change Director, Ministry of Environment, Haiti. A recent briefing note identifies the roles of key stakeholders in implementing Haiti’s NAP.

The first progress review of the implementation of Kenya’s NAP 2015–2030 highlights positive outcomes in the agriculture sector, including initiatives to promote Indigenous Knowledge about crops and efforts to strengthen land management systems to help the livestock sector adapt. This report features 15 photos that Kenyan women captured through the Envisioning Resilience initiative to inform decisions in the NAP process with visual stories depicting Indigenous Knowledge and gender-based climate impacts and solutions.

Liberia has developed a monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) framework for their NAP. Liberia launched its first NAP in late 2021, and the MEL framework—which includes objectives, required institutional arrangements, and a 3-year work plan—will help the country track progress.

Congratulations to Bosnia and Herzegovina for submitting its NAP to the UNFCCC.

Our Country Support Hub page presents the short-term technical support that the NAP Global Network Secretariat team has provided to developing countries’ NAP processes.
