Soil Science Field School in the Agricultural University
of Georgia
Agricultural University of Georgia continues
monthly activities of field
school of soil science, which is carried out
every month by the initiative
of Mikheil Sabashvili Institute of Soil
Science, Agro chemistry and
Melioration of the Agricultural University of
Georgia.
The next route was conducted on
Tbilisi-Gombori-Gurdjaani-Tbilisi. Students
from Agricultural University of
Georgia and from Georgian Technical
University participated in the event.
The Field School and participants were
headed and instructed by the Director
of the Mikheil Sabashvili Institute of
Soil Science, Agro chemistry and
Melioration of the Agricultural University
of Georgia – Academician Tengiz
(Gizo) Urushadze, associate Professor Tamar
Kvrivishvili - Professor of
Agricultural University of Georgia and Professor
Winfield Blum, University
of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna;
(Austria).
The school participants were acquainted with
mountain-meadow (secondary),
brown forest and cinnamon
soils.
Professor Winfield Blum conducted a lecture in Iakob
Gogebashvili State
University on the topic “What the UN World Soil Day is
Teaching Us”.
Next departure of the field school in soil science
is planned for the
following route: Tbilisi – Dedoplis Tskaro (Shirakis
Valley) - Tsnori
(Alazani Valley)
