Dirty energy corporations want to
contaminate the Grand Canyon with toxic uranium mining. Tell Joe
Biden to save the Grand Canyon!
|
Every year,
millions of people stand at the rim of the Grand Canyon and
marvel at its immense and spectacular landscape. It is a
natural treasure that supports thousands of jobs, incredible
wildlife and watersheds, and is sacred to Indigenous people.
Yet greedy mining industry executives and officials in
Arizona want to jeopardize all this. Emboldened by
the Trump administration's anti-environment policies, these
corporate hacks have been pushing to open new toxic uranium
mines in the precious Grand Canyon area. It's a shockingly callous money grab at the
expense of local communities and these iconic
lands.
Mining in the Grand Canyon
region isn't new — but it is dangerous and devastating. That's
why, in 2012, the Obama administration protected roughly 1
million acres of nearby public lands, closing it off to any
new mining claims. Of course, Trump has spent the past four
years trying to undo that. Luckily, President-Elect Joe Biden
says he opposes additional uranium mining in and around the
Grand Canyon. But now we need him to turn words into
action. Tell Joe Biden to roll back Trump's toxic mining
permissions, and protect the people and wildlife of the Grand
Canyon!
Thank you for all that you do,
