YouTube is turning over its homepage advertising to the Trump
campaign on Election Day. When Americans go to the polls,
Trump will be broadcasting his hateful lies and conspiracy
theories on the world’s biggest social media platform.
Facebook and Twitter have already banned political ads in the
election run-up in a desperate attempt to stem the tide of
disinformation. But YouTube has decided to hand Donald Trump
a megaphone instead.
If there is a massive public outcry, we can force YouTube to
pull the plug on Trump and ditch all political ads for the
duration of the election. We need you to join the
call:
YouTube:
pull the plug on Trump!
Insiders say that YouTube considered replacing political
ads on the homepage with 'Get Out the Vote' ads but company bosses
slapped down the idea.
With YouTube’s reach even bigger than Facebook, it’s
hard to fathom how company bosses can defend such a reckless
decision.
In the last two weeks alone, Facebook has banned Holocaust
deniers and QAnon conspiracists thanks to millions of people
demanding action. We’ve got these social media giants on the
run -- now’s the time to double down on YouTube.
