Martin
Luther King Jr. Day has always been a time to reflect on
the immense progress we've made toward fairness and
freedom. MLK's fight for Black Americans'
equality helped pave the way for so many others to
demand their voices be heard and their dignity be
upheld.
This
year, MLK Day coincides with the second inauguration of
Donald Trump, a man whose divisive rhetoric contradicts
everything Dr. King fought for.
But
Bernice King, MLK's daughter, urges us not to be
discouraged by this juxtaposition. Instead, she reminds
us, "This is a time for us to be stronger than
ever."
We must let Trump
know that we will be there, on day one, protecting the
rights of everyone he plans to
attack.
We
must stand together and pledge to continue the fight for
justice and equality for the LGBTQ+ community, for
immigrants, for the disabled, for Indigenous people, for
minorities, and for any other marginalized group that is
threatened under Trump.
Sign the petition and
pledge to honor Martin Luther King Jr.'s call for peace,
freedom, and equality for all on Inauguration Day and
beyond!
