Celebration of World Soil Day




On 5th of December 2017, with the initiative of Georgian Society of Soil
Science and Michail Sabashvili Institute of Soil Science, Agrochemistry and
Melioration of the Agricultural University of Georgia Museum of Kakha
Bendukidze University Campus, a celebration of the World Soil Day was held,
where schoolchildren, students and researchers took part.



Honorary member of the The International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS)
academician Tengiz Urushadze explained the meaning and history of the World
Soil Day, International Year of Soils (2015) and international Decade of
Soils (2015-2024). Also he told about history of the Museum and future of
soil science in Georgia.



PhD student Ilia Kunchulia talked about World Soil Day, Sustainable
Development Goals and role of land and soil in their implementation. The
schoolchildren had a tour in the campus and the museum.
