WASH Technical Assessment in Kvemo Kartli
Region
From 21 December 2017 to 6 January 2017 CENN, together with
independent
experts, assessed the state of water, sanitation and hygiene
(WASH) from
preliminary selected locations in Dmanisi and Tsalka
municipalities. The
survey included 15 target groups, comprising of
schoolteachers and students,
vulnerable groups, municipal representatives,
etc.
The main purpose of the studies was to reveal the level of
access to water,
sanitation and hygiene within the respective target groups
and develop
recommendations to improve the WASH
conditions.
The assessment was preceded by meetings with the
local population in
Dmanisi, Tsalka, Marneuli and Tetritskaro municipalities
(October - November
2017), where water and hygiene problems were identified,
community
mobilization was carried and prepared for the project’s future
activities.
The project Georgia Community WASH Initiative to
Eliminate Inequalities in
Access to Water and Sanitation in Vulnerable
Multi-Ethnic Rural Communities
is financed through the New World Program,
which is facilitated by Global
Water Challenge (GWC) in collaboration with
The Coca-Cola Foundation (TCCF)
and implemented by CENN. The project aims to
improve WASH conditions for the
target groups (multi-ethnic, vulnerable
communities) in Kvemo Kartli
Municipalities of Dmanisi, Tsalka, Marneuli and
Tetritskaro, through
lobbying, raising awareness among stakeholders
and implementing projects.
