Dear friends,
May be you already know that Primer Minister
of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili announced about reduction of Ministry of
Environment Protection and Natural Resource of Georgia and deiced to merge it
responsibility among Ministry of Economy and Agriculture.
Svitlana Romanko made statement behalf of
350.org and RICDOG (local partner of 350.org) speared it on Georgian language in
different media resource and groups.
Statement
in English:
"At the time, when people power is growing
all over the world, countries of the world are looking for solving the climate
and environmental crisis, formed the brand new Ministries on Climate/Climate and
Energy Efficiency (as Canada and Australia) and started the wide coalition to
end coal era and use, the Cabinet of Ministers in Georgia decides to change the
structure with just pressing the “Delete” button on national Ministry of
environmental protection. The idea is to merge this Ministry with Ministry of
Energy, Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Economy. Can you image the
protection of natural resources in these circumstances ? We all know the
injustice of protection of resources instead of their use and economical value.
I truly support the joint forces of all Georgian NGO’s and politicians as Kakha
Kuchava, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Environmental Protection
to joint forces, sign and share the petition against the destruction of natural
resources protection".
