Eco-hubs for Sustainable Development Goals

Nine new Ecohubs were established in regions of Georgia by CENN to foster
environmental education.

The initiative was implemented within Sustainable Forest Governance in
Georgia and funded by Austrian Development Cooperation.

Ecohub is a co-working space designed for planning and implementation of
green ideas, environmental educational activities and discussion of
environmental issues.

At the hub, young leaders can enjoy safe and comfortable environment, a
variety of environmental literature and technical equipment.

The eco-hub is aimed at solving issues in the environmental sector and
support human wellbeing and country’s sustainable development. All eco-hubs
established by CENN are mapped on an interactive map

where a description and a contact person is included for each.

For Ecohub leaders, the New Year started with strategic planning of their
activities. Representatives of 13 eco-hubs assembled in Bulachauri Green
Center on January 9-11 to develop 2018 action plans in accordance with
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Current state and public environmental
programs are integrated in the draft guidance documents.

A separate session was dedicated to state civic education program initiated
by the Committee of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of the
Parliament of Georgia along with eco-hubs.

The meeting was conducted in partnership with Waste Management Technology in
Regions, Phase II (WMTR II) implemented by CENN with the financial support
of USAID.
