On
tuesday April 23, following the announcement of
the decision not to renew the agreement with Radio
Radicale, the Agency for Communications Guarantees
(AGcom), sent an urgent report to the
Government to formulate some observations and
proposals for intervention in the matter of
awarding a radio network dedicated to
parliamentary work.
"Not
extending the agreement before a reform that
redefines the radio service dedicated to
institutional information of general interest
would mean the interruption of this public service
whose indispensability and the exemplary way in
which it was and has been rendered for decades by
Radio Radicale are recognized ”.

UN
High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle
Bachelet on Wednesday strongly condemned the
beheading of 37 men across six cities in Saudi
Arabia, in spite of repeated appeals by the UN
human rights system about the lack of due process
and fair trial guarantees, allegations that
confessions were obtained through torture – and
the ages of some of those
executed.

The
European Committee for the Prevention of Torture
and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment
(CPT) stressed, in its 28th annual report , the
need for police forces in Europe to improve the
way suspects are interviewed when carrying out
criminal investigations
The
Committee notes that, in the majority of Council
of Europe member states, most detained persons
with whom CPT delegations spoke had not suffered
any kind of police abuse. It also welcomes
significant improvements across the continent in
preventing police ill-treatment.
However, within the last ten years, in almost
one third of Council of Europe member states the
Committee received allegations of police
ill-treatment that could be qualified as
torture.
