Lviv (Ukraine) has become one of the TOP-5 cities of Eastern Europe, which declared the transition to renewable energy!
Today, on September, 13, within the the official opening of the International Environmental Forum (Lviv Eco Forum) “Water and Energy” - Andriy Sadovyi, Mayor of Lviv, has publicly signed a memorandum with the international climate organization 350.org, to undergo the commitment to 100% of renewable energy transition till 2050 !
Along with signing of above mentioned memorandum, the local authorities of Lviv undertake to energy transition of Lviv city energy supply system to 100% powered by renewable energy sources till 2050, develop and invest in the appropriate documents and city strategies, co-create the interactive citizens participation in decision making process around climate and clean energy.
Worth mentioning, that Lviv is the well known large Ukrainian historical and touristic center, yet has announced the transition to 100 % of renewable energy in Ukraine. On June - early September 2018 the same commitments were announced by the mayors of Zhytomyr, Kamyanets-Podilsky, Chortkiv.
The role of 350.org as an international climate organization is to escalate the process of transition from fossil fuels to 100% RE solutions in the cities and co-create the interactive public participation and people power leadership around the climate and energy solutions, which would be taken on the local level.
