14 September 2017, Keda, Adjara - The European Union continues supporting rural development in Georgia under ENPARD programme. On 14th of September, ENPARD partner organisation CENN will officially launch a new rural development project “Optimising the Potential of Local Assets for Rural Development of Keda Municipality”.

The launching event will take place from 14:30 to 17:00 pm., at Keda Municipality Government building.

Welcome remarks will be delivered by CENN Executive Director, Nana Janashia and Governor in Keda Municipality, David Dumbadze. Presentation on the European model for rural development in Georgia will be delivered by the Project Manager of the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia, Alvaro Ortega Aparicio. In addition, ENPARD partners in rural development in pilot municipalities of Georgia will share their experience during the meeting.

The EU-supported project is implemented by CENN in partnership with the Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG), Institute of Democracy (IoD) and  Austrian Institute for Regional Studies and Spatial Planning (ÖIR). The project aims at diversifying the local economic activities, improving investment climate, and empowering competitive agricultural and environmental practices in Keda Municipality via bottom-up strategic planning of rural development.

The EU is supporting agriculture and rural development in Georgia through its ENPARD Programme. Implemented since 2013 with a total budget of EUR 102 million, the main goal of ENPARD is to reduce rural poverty in Georgia. The first phase of ENPARD in Georgia focused on developing the potential of agriculture. The second phase of ENPARD focuses on creating economic opportunities for rural population that go beyond agricultural activities. More information on ENPARD is available at:
