One Big
Thing: Can you spot online
disinformation about the COVID-19
pandemic? | |
Since
the outbreak of COVID-19,
a considerable amount of online disinformation has
surfaced about all aspects of the pandemic,
coining the term “Infodemic”. Many U.S. government
agencies have stepped up to combat it including
the CDC,
Cybersecurity
and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and
other government agencies. The CDC has gone as far
as to tag any social media post related to the
pandemic or vaccine with links to their own
website. Some social media platforms including Facebook
and twitter
have joined the effort by adding their own
disinformation warnings. Despite their efforts,
other platforms like Instagram have been accused
of continuing to lead users to false claims about
the virus. Make sure to read up on

related to the pandemic: Center
