Trump wants to let deep-sea mining companies rip up the seabed of the Alaskan Arctic, devastating coastal communities and destroying this wildlife wonderland.

We have just a few days to stop it. The US government is asking for public comments, which means overwhelming public opposition could slow this down - or stop it altogether - as it has to review these before going ahead.

Alaska’s icy Arctic waters are a paradise for sea life, teeming with beluga whales, sea otters, and ghost octopuses. Scientists say there are still THOUSANDS of undiscovered species that share these waters with them.

But if Trump gets his way, it’ll be destroyed before we get the chance to. Reckless companies are poised to move in and mine for the precious minerals that lie underneath the seabed.

We have less than a week to stop them.

The federal agency in charge is running a public consultation period. By law, they must review public comments before deciding whether to move forward -- which means overwhelming public opposition could still slow this down, or stop it altogether.

Once we get 100,000 signatures, we will submit them to the public consultation and take out a full-page ad in a major US newspaper so that there can be no doubt this plan is a guaranteed vote loser.

These companies say that they can mine without harming marine life and coastal communities. But biologists and ocean conservationists warn that industrial mining could create toxic pollution and obliterate delicate ecosystems.

We don’t even know what we are destroying -  deep-sea scientists say that each time an expedition is launched to collect new species, they find that at least 70% of them have never been discovered before!

Also, mining disturbs the carbon stored underneath the ocean bed, releasing it and potentially accelerating climate change. This is the last thing our planet needs.

This beautiful ocean, home to rich biodiversity and which coastal communities depend on for their livelihoods, must be off-limits to the predatory deep-sea mining industry.

Ekō’s incredible community has stopped projects like this before - when over 160,000 people opposed the Pebble Mine project in Alaska, the US Environmental Protection Agency listened and shelved the project.

Now let’s do it again to protect the Alaskan Arctic. Add your name and spread the word.

Thanks for all that you do,
