Did you know there’s more to Eurovision than glamorous singing? Tonight, Eurovision will broadcast live a debate between the 6 candidates to the Presidency of the European Commission. [1] They call it the #EurovisionDebate.

Candidates will fight to show they care more than others about people’s concerns - after all they have to represent Europeans’ interests. We all care about the climate catastrophe that’s coming (and already happening for many), the crisis that scientists have been warning about for years now, the one already we cannot wait a single minute more to fight back.

But how do we make it clear to these candidates that we want them to make the fight against the climate crisis a top priority during their mandate? Here’s how: Eurovision will display throughout the debate whatever is trending on social media - and we can make this message to be about climate! If leading candidates commit in such a debate, their words will bind them when they're in power.

Thousands of Europeans will be using the hashtags #TellEurope and #VoteForClimate in social media to make our voice trend and to make sure candidates cannot ignore us. Whether you use Twitter, Facebook, Instagram: let’s flood the #EurovisionDebate! Start now!

If you don’t use any social media, you can always forward this email to family and friends.

Feel free to use any of the sample messages below, and of course to create your own: the more diverse our message, the more effective! [2]

Scientists say that we face a climate crisis. We need decisive action in the next 10 years to get on track for a healthy, fair and livable future. This will not only reduce devastating impacts of the climate catastrophe but also bring major economic and social benefits, attract new investments, create new quality jobs and limit health damages.

The European Parliament elections and subsequent changes in the leadership of the European Commission will shape our future for the next five years, a crucial period for climate action where emissions need to decline fast. The new Commission must address people’s concerns about climate and make climate action a top priority for Europe.

Take action: post from your Twitter, Facebook, Instagram (or any other social media platform) accounts now!
