Rainy weather brings profits to thermal spas
Business is booming at thermal spas in Austria as people rush to keep warm

Vienna (pte031/04.06.2013/16:26) - Business is booming at thermal spas in
Austria as people rush to keep warm as unusually cold temperatures and heavy
rainfall sweep the country.

Instead of weekend trips to lakes or short sunshine breaks to Croatia,
Slovenia or Italy many people have changed their plans and are booking
weekend breaks in thermal spas or making day trips to the spas, particularly
in the Austrian province of Styria.

This is benefiting thermal spa resorts who are reporting record visitor
numbers in comparison to the same period last year - some such as Therme
Loipersdorf reporting 15 per cent increase in guests.

Sieglinde Raser, from the Thermenhof Paierl in Bad Waltersdorf said: "We are
seeing are considerable increase in visitors. Many guests have called up at
last minute asking if we still have space free. For us the adverse weather
is bringing 10-15 per cent more guests."

The newly renovated Parktherme in Bad Radkersburg has also seen an increase
in guests. Manager Siegfried Feldbaumer: said "We would say that this May
has been a good May in terms of visitors - this is due to the weather. We
had good bookings over the May bank holiday weekends.

Businesses which rely on good weather conditions such as camping sites and
bike rental companies are suffering as a result of the poor weather.
